The three of us got in the car, and the moment we entered, I said, “You don’t have to keep acting nice. Clyden’s gone now.”

Edith and Jasmine’s smiles fell as they both glared at me. “Ugh, thank god. It felt demoralizing smiling at you for an entire hour,” Jasmine said.

I looked down on my lap and silently sighed. I just wanted to go home and hide in my room as soon as possible.

“Did you just sigh?” Edith asked. “Such a disrespectful young woman. I really don’t know why Clyden even married you.”

Jasmine gently tapped her grandma’s thigh. “Have you forgotten, grandma? Her family only forced Clyden to marry her. Oh! Oops… I’m guessing I’m not supposed to say that,” she said while covering her mouth.

I took a deep breath. I looked at the navigation map on the car’s screen and saw that we were only a minute away from the house.
