24. The Bar Visit
"Thanks for the ride," Elisa said and tried to leave in a hurry, but Ansel grabbed her wrist. He sensed her uneasiness the entire car ride. He tried to ignore it but he couldn't because she looked devastated.
"What's the matter with you?" he asked.
"Nothing. Let go so I can go inside," Elisa tried to free her hand, but Ansel gripped it more firmly.
"Bullshit. It's written all over your face. Something is wrong," he narrowed his eyes.
Elisa sighed. "I am worried about her being alone, that's all. So just let me go, okay?"
Ansel was confused. Elisa left Audre home alone with a babysitter all the time, so what was the big deal? Was it because it was someone else's house? He wasn't convinced, but he let go of her.
