Chapter 57

Anita continues to stare at the card in her palm before deciding to call the governor's wife's number.

She inserts the phone number into her phone and saves it, just as Glory knocks and walks in.

"Is it time for dinner, big sister?" Glory asks Anita, surprised to learn that she hasn't even taken a bath yet.

"Okay, I'll be out soon. You can have your dinners alone, as I'd like to take a bath first," Anita said.

"No, mother insists, I call you out now because she wants to speak to us," Glory reminds Anita.

"Oh," Anita sighs, staring at her room's wall clock, which reads 8 p.m. sharp.

"Fine, go ahead; I am coming." She drops her phone, stands up, pulls her white towel around her chest to conceal her thighs, and steps out of her room into the dining room to join her mother and sisters.

Anita takes her usual seat for dinner, and Glory and Lisa come out of the kitchen to serve them.

The dining room is quiet, and her mother says nothing while Lisa shares the fufu she got at the market
