Katie's POV

As the months passed, everything seemed to be going perfectly. Alex and I were happy, our children were thriving, and our businesses were booming. But just when I thought we had everything under control, something unexpected happened.

I was sitting in my office, going over some paperwork when I received a call from Alex. His voice was tense, and I could tell that something was wrong.

"Katie, I need you to come home right away," he said. "We need to talk."

I felt a knot form in my stomach as I quickly gathered my things and rushed home. When I arrived, Alex was waiting for me in the living room, looking serious.

"Katie, I received a letter today," he said, handing me an envelope.

I opened it, my heart racing as I read the words on the page. It was a threat, one that could ruin everything we had worked for.

"They want me to give them a percentage of our profits," Alex said, his voice angry. "And if we don't comply, they'll do whatever it takes to destroy us."
