Chapter forty

Serena’s pov

“Pl… please my lady” the worthless waste of breathe groaned, coughing out blood, further

staining the floor.

“Mercy” he choked out, making me grit my teeth in anger, mercy was the last thing on my mind. “You want mercy? Tell us what we want to know!” my son, killian growled as he threw yet another punch to the guards already bloodied face.

“I don.. don’t kn.. know anything” the guard said between breathes and I finally stood from my chair.

“Why do you keep protecting them? They left you here to die! Why are you so loyal? I am your priestess, shouldn’t you be loyal to me?” I asked, wanting nothing more than to cut out his throat but I still needed him.

“I didn’t see anything my lady, I swear” he begged and I had to commend his strength, many would have broken from all the pain we inflicted on him. Maybe he was telling the truth.

“Lies!” Killian roared and stabbed the guard’s shoulder with the knife he’d been using to cut

and stab him.
