Chapter seventy three

Mia's pov

I don't know why, but my heart hurt. Not too much but enough. Here I was, watching the life fade from my aunt's eyes while I held the murder weapon in my hands, twisting it until her body fell limp on the ground.

She was my aunt, my family! Why did she hate me so much? Wasn't she supposed to love me? Accept me? And yet, she was the very reason for my misery.

"She deserved it" were the words my wolf said to make me feel better about killing my own blood but I didn't work.

I wasn't like Serena, killing my family wasn't something I took pride in. Why did she have to be my enemy?

"Mia?" Trevor's voice interrupted my thoughts, making me avert my gaze from the still bleeding corpse to my mate, who's eyes held so much grief and confusion, even in his wolf form.

"I'm okay" I said but I know we both knew I was lying, I wasn't fine, far from it.
