Chapter Forty-four

“I guess she couldn’t handle it. I don’t really know what happened or how long it was going on. What I do know is that a few months before I deployed she told me that she was pregnant. I was overjoyed and excited. I couldn’t wait to hold my child in my arms. So I started adding on to the cabin and began preparing to welcome my child into the world. Unfortunately, that never happened. Like I said, I don’t know how, when, or why she did what she did but I found out while I was deployed.”  He said, sighing as he sat down. 

“What happened?”  Margo whispered. 

“I found out that she had been having an affair and that the baby wasn’t even mine.” Kane sighed. “I think I could have lived with it and raised the baby as my own but I was devastated to learn that she’d had an affair with one of my best friends.”
