Ava pulled out her cellphone and once again dialed the same number that she had been trying to reach for over a year now. Instead of going to voicemail like she had expected the phone was picked up on the fourth ring. Her heart skipped a nervous beat as she listened to the sound of dead air for a moment.
“Hello?” Came a deep grumbled response.
“You actually answered.” She said, surprised that he picked up.
“Yeah. What do you want?” He asked.
“I want to meet. We need to talk. I told you all of this last night..” She said, letting her hand trail down her bare torso.
“We don’t really have much to discuss but as long as this is the last time that we cross paths then lets get this out of the way.” He g
“You’ve got to be kidding me…” Kane sighed, when Margo appeared in the bar.“What?” She asked, looking down at her clothes.“You’re not going out in that.” He huffed.“What’s wrong with what I am wearing?” She demanded.“Nothing! Except that every man out there is going to want what’s mine.” He growled as he took in the low cut backless shirt that showcased her cleavage and the tight leather pants that left very little to the imagination.“That’s the point. The more eyes on me the fewer eyes on you.” Margo huffed.“How did you even
“What?” Margo asked, sighing with annoyance.“Woah! I just wanted to buy you a drink.” He said, holding up his hands in surrender.“What for?” She asked, raising a brow even as she continued to walk away.Blade nodded at his men, who were helping pick up Maddog and Thrasher. He quickly followed after this new woman that had his blood rushing south. He wasn’t the type to chase after someone but she was just interesting enough that he didn’t care that she had basically dismissed him with a single look.“As an apology for the way my men acted.” He said.“It’s not needed. Teach him some manners and then we’ll be squar
Kane sighed tiredly when they finally made it to his ranch. He sped down the gravel drive and slammed on the breaks as soon as he pulled up in front of his cabin. He opened his door, sprinting around to the passenger side and threw open her door. He gathered her up in his arms and marched up the stairs. He unlocked the door and ran inside, careful not to bump into anything. He carried her upstairs to his room and laid her down on his bed. He didn’t waste time as he quickly removed her shoes and clothes before he slipped one of his t-shirts over head.Sweat covered her body and a small whimper escaped her lips. By now she was starting to lose consciousness as her eyes began to droop. She was still panting but not nearly as bad as before. Kane went to the adjoining bathroom and grabbed a washcloth. He wet it with cold water and wrung it out before coming back to the room sitting next to her on the bed.
The kiss was not rushed but she could still feel his need for her. It soothed the jagged pieces of her heart and washed away the fears that had been locked away deep inside her. His big warm hands caressed her and held her firmly in place. As sweet as this kiss was, she felt like she was being consumed by him, by his heat. Part of her balked at this tenderness. She didn’t know what to do with it. Despite this uncertainty rearing its head, a hidden part of her wanted to be consumed by his heat; by the tenderness that soothed her broken heart. He had been tender with her before. He had made sure to show her he loved her but she had never felt anything like this before. It was as if he was laying himself bare before her. They pulled apart to catch their breaths and Margo dared to look him in the eyes. What she saw there had her heart racing as tears filled her eyes. Her tears trailed down he
Margo was snuggled against Kane’s chest as his warm arms encircled her sleeping form. Her gentle breathing alerted him to her state of deep sleep. She was exhausted and he knew that he had been more than vigorous with her. He held her tightly in his arms, inhaling her scent. His heart squeezed painfully in his chest as he stared at her peaceful face. This was one of those rare times that she was truly peaceful and he wanted to soak up the moment. His phone ringing had him sighing even as he reached for it. He stared at the screen for a moment and sighed. He knew that Jessie would contact him the moment that she had the results of the tox screen but he had hoped to have just a bit more time with her before the world came knocking on his door.“Hello?” He answered, gruffly.“Hey, you got a moment?” Jessie asked, sounding slight
After the last person had left Margo sighed and sat down. She was so tired. She didn’t remember being this tired her last pregnancies. She closed her eyes intending to rest them only for a moment. Before she knew it she was sound asleep. Darkness surrounded her senses. She frowned as she took in the familiar scene before her. It had been a while since she had this dream. Even though she knew what would happen, she still found her feet carrying her towards the house. It was the same house that she had grown up in. Everything was a muted bluish gray as she took in the familiar porch. The door that once promised warmth and protection from a cruel world now looked as if it was the keeper of her nightmares. Of course in a way it was. Her bare feet halted on the grass. It was cold and pricked her feet painfully. Her own will seemed to be overpowered by something greater than her own. It urged her not to go towards the house. Margo looked around lookin
Dex was listening in on the phone calls Bernard had received when something occurred to him. Bernard would probably try to run with everything that had been uploaded on the internet. He had to admit that Ronald had done a good job getting the articles and videos out to the public. The man had practically ruined Bernard’s life and Dex felt a smug sense of satisfaction knowing that his life was ruined. Still it wasn’t enough. For every misdeed he had done or been involved with he would see it returned three fold. His smirk faded however, as soon as he noticed that some of the bugs were no longer working.“That son of a bitch is running.” He growled, as his fingers began to fly over his keyboard.Dex wasn’t about to let him run away though. With a few expert strokes of his fingers he quickly began to freeze his asset
Bernard stood outside the abandoned warehouse. He pulled back the side panel and stepped through it. He flicked the light switch and sighed when the lights flicked on. It had been a while since he had been there. He looked at the dust that had accumulated after decades of nonuse. He sighed and looked around. He hadn’t been here in years though he was glad that he had kept the building despite not knowing if he would need it. It was a part of his past. The building that gave him his start in the underworld. He began to pull back dusty tarps exposing the furniture that he had left behind. All of this seemed like a separate world from the one he had been living. Of course it was. This was his refuge when he was a teenager. He looked at the dark stain on the floor. He had been stupid when he was younger and gotten caught but he still smiled at the nostalgic memory of his first kill. This was where it had happened. He ha
