Chapter 3

“Move aside. Let me in,” Alice ordered.

“No, Alpha has ordered no one enter.”

“I’m your future Luna!”

“No you are not!” Tomas replied from behind her. “Our Luna is currently inside with our Alpha.”

“Beta Tomas, that’s a lie.” Alice growled. “Luna Lana, tell him. I’m Rooks mate and his future Luna.”

Even before Rooks’s mother Luna Lana could speak, Alpha Mackenzie appeared.

“Everyone listen,” he commanded in his Alpha voice. “Go home, we will have a pack meeting once Alpha Rook is free.”

The pack quietly dispersed. Soft whispers reaching their ears.

Beta Tomas says Alpha has brought his mate home.

So it must be true. Beta Tomas will never lie.

I wonder why Alice insists she’s the Luna when it’s obvious she’s not the Alpha’s mate…

Alice glared at Tomas, “Just wait until Rook hears about this and then you will see what he will do to you.”

Tomas just looked at her without responding. He already knew who his Luna was and he wasn’t bothered about Alice’s threats but he was getting irritated by her presence.

“You’d better leave now. If you continue making problems, I will throw you in the dungeons.”

Alice stared at the determined expression on Toma’s face and knew that he would do exactly what he said. She knew he hated her, so she decided to head home and call Rook and find what was going on.

“Luna Lana, who is that woman that Rook brought here?” Alice asked as she stepped away from Tomas and decided to find out all that she could about what was happening.

But her questions were cut of by Alpha Mackenzie, “Excuse us Alice. We have a meeting to attend.”

Guiding his wife, he passed Alice and entered the hospital. Once they were inside and alone, he spoke. “Lana, listen the woman brought in by Rook is his mate. Tomas has met her on their mission in the North. The council themselves have kept her away from Rook. “

Lana gasped as she realized exactly what Mackenzie’s words meant. The war in the North had decimated the packs and it also revealed other supernaturals from other worlds who looked at their own world as a jewel to be captured or destroyed.

She couldn’t help wondering if she was a were or even a human. Mackenzie could also see the unasked questions in her eyes and knew they only mirrored his own confusion. Guiding his wife, he headed to the room that held his son and his mate. A mate they had never met before today. One who the council themselves had kept away. He had to wonder if she was going to be a danger to her mate and his pack.

They stood silently watching their son as he held onto his mates hand as the doctors were trying unsuccessfully to insert a drip into her veins.

“Alpha, she is not human and not a were can you tell me what she is?” The doctor questioned.

Looking into the Alpha’s eyes the doctor shuddered and quickly lowered his head in submission as he caught a glimpse of the Alpha’s eyes. It was fully black meaning that his wolf was in control.

“She is a dragon,” Tomas spoke up from the doorway. “Alric, I know you are worried about your mate but you need to let Rook come back to us. He is the only one who knows how to help your mate.”

Everyone waited in silence as the wolf looked at Tomas and slowly his eyes changed back.

“How is she?” where the first words Rook spoke. Looking at the doctor in front of him.

“Alpha, you are back,” a sigh of relief echoed the doctor’s words. “We can’t get a vein as what we have cannot pierce her skin. Beta Tomas has just informed us that she is a dragon. Unfortunately we don’t have any equipment that is able to be used on a dragon and I have to admit I don’t know what to do. At the moment it appears that she is asleep all her vitals are steady though her body temperature seems to be a bit low. Its lower than our normal body temperature and I am concerned about that as I would think dragon’s base temperature would be hotter than a were.”

“Asleep,” Rook muttered latching onto that one word of the doctor’s diagnosis. “Of course, she used too much of her energy sending that witch back to the council headquarters. She’ll need heat to stay warm and wake up faster.”

“Will hot blankets work on her?” the doctor asked.

“No it won’t.” Rook answered.

“Tomas, the cabin at the waterfall has a huge fireplace. I want you to get it lit and stock up the wood. That should be hot enough to warm her up enough to wake up.”

“But Rook won’t the heat damage the cabin?” Lana spoke concerned for her son. Already knowing he was going to be inside right next his mate.

“No mum it won’t. Crystal will absorb all the heat the fire will give out. I’ll be fine.”

“She really is your mate?” She asked softly but she could already see the answer by the way he held onto her and how his gaze constantly returned to the slender figure on the bed.

“Yes she is. She has been working for the council which is why she hasn’t been here. But today the council instructed her to stay here and wait for further orders. I hope you and dad can accept her and help the pack accept her. She is a unique Luna as she is a dragon as well as she has other responsibilities that will demand her time and attention. But that won’t mean our pack will suffer because of it.”

Rook stood and watched his parents faces as they came to terms with what he had just revealed. His father gave him a small nod, which told Rook he was on his side. Now he only had to deal with his mother.

“Alpha Rook,” Tomas spoke in his mind, “the cabin is ready. I’m waiting outside with the car to drive you and Luna Crystal.”

Scooping up Crystal, he nodded at his parents as he walked out. “I’ll see you in a day or two.”

His father chuckled softly, “Take care of her, son. Tomas and I will handle the pack if there’s any problems we’ll yell.”
