“Rook just a moment.”
The call stopped Rook and Crystal in their tracks just before they stepped out to meet the pack. Turning around Rook saw his mother and Alice.
Rook frowned as he noticed his mother’s strange expression as well as Alice’s smug expression. They were both well-dressed but something about their expression had his hackles rising.
“Yes mother?” He glared at Alice wondering how she had gotten out of prison and who had dared disobey his orders.
“Are you certain about this woman being your mate?”
“Mother! How can you ask such a question! Are you certain about father being your mate?” Rook knew he was being rude but having his mother question him while being watched by Alice had him on edge. He had a nasty feeling that something bad was about to happen.
“You said she was your mate but where is her mark?” His mother questioned him ignoring his words.

She was well hidden, and she had been pleasantly surprised to see that Rook allowed the women in his pack to fight and defend themselves which was not the norm in most packs. Rook shifted and before anyone could react, he was already hugging his grandmother and checking if she was okay.“Crys,” he called out as Gianna folded into his arms.
