The house was empty. Mom was gone and Shelly went to the shelter and the construction site. The mermaid was doing god knows what. It didn't matter to me as long as we weren't in the same room.

It has been forever since I have been alone. Who would have thought being okay could be this boring? I didn't.

I stretched with a yawn in one of the settees in the living rooms. I peeked through an eyelid just in time to catch Little Miss Mermaid sneaking past me. It wouldn't have been anything if not for the pants and blouse she had on.

I raised on the couch."Where do you think you're going?"

Sneaking around was just not her. This new course of action set off alarms. She was up to no good.

She paused and pivoted on her heels to face me. "Weren't you suppose to be sleeping?"

"Aren't you supposed to be doing something other than annoy me?" I shot back.

She narrowed her eyes at me. Like that was going to help the situat
