IRIS

"Let go of my hand, you monster!" I yelled at the top of my voice as Oscar tried to pin me down.

"Iris, let's try and talk over this." He pleaded, but I wasn't ready to hear another word from him. He was a liar, a cheat, and only loved me because he found my father's wealth mesmerizing. He didn't care a bit about how I was feeling or what I was going through. He was after the money, and that was what comes first. Nothing else matters.

"What exactly do you want us to talk about?" I glared at him with so much hate in my eyes.

"Look, I didn't mean for things to turn out this way. It was beyond my control, and I swear, baby, I was scammed." He lied yet again, and I shut my eyes, begging for self-control, which seemed very far right now. Did it ever occur to him that I knew everything he was saying were all lies? If only he knew that I knew about all his lies, he wouldn't have stared deep into my eyes and lied about it.

"Let's assume you were scammed of all the money my father had given to you, then tell me, how were you able to buy a new house in Colton Villa island? And the new car? What's your explanation for that?" I creased my brows watching as his sober expression turned pale after hearing me out.

There was a long silence between both of us, I rolled my eyes before hissing.

"You are no use to me, and I'm breaking off this engagement."

I turned around to leave, but he grabbed my hand forcefully, I screamed in pain. I throw my bag at his face, but he is fast to dodge it.

"Let go of me, Oscar. I'm warning you."

"Or what!"

I felt his eyes burning with flames, and I trembled at the thought of what he was capable of doing to me.

"I have endured your nonsense for too long. And so what if I bought a house and car with your father's money? Tell me what you would do?" He asked, his grip tightened on my wrist, and I almost screamed at the excruciating pain I was feeling, but I wasn't going to show him that he was capable of hurting or breaking me.

"Fuck…You!" I stuttered, still trying to gain possession of my hand.

I felt a sudden pang when he brushed me against the wall, and I could feel his breath on my neck. I did scream, but unfortunately, there was no one nearby to help me out.

I battled with him for a while but soon gave up as his strength was overpowering me. I was afraid of the unknown. What if he had resorted to hurting me or beating me or something worse that I can't place my head on right now? I was scared, I wanted out of her before he succeeded in doing what the goddess knew next, but I didn't know what I should do. There was no object close by to strike him with. I was at his mercy, and that's what scares me. I was still thinking about what to do when someone pushes the door open.

"Help!" I used my last strength to scream so whoever is in the room would know the direction to take.

"Shut up!" Oscar's cold tone filled my ears as he struck me hard on my face, which forced me to shut my mouth.

There is a minute of silence as my face stings from the effect of his slap. I felt sad when I saw no one coming in my direction, I'm left thinking that maybe the noise I heard was in my head.

"Arrgh!" I felt someone hit Oscar from the back, making him lose his grip on me, and he crashed to the floor.

"Follow me." The owner of the voice took my hands without even waiting for my reply, and I had no choice but to follow him.

We raced out of the room, and I could hear Oscar screaming from behind.

"I will get you!" His threat doesn't seem like one as we stopped outside the apartment floor.

I'm breathing hastily, but that doesn't prevent me from looking at the young man who saved me. I couldn't exactly make out his face when I said the word, "Thank you."

"Are you okay?" He asked, and from his voice, I knew he was worried about me.

"Yes, I'm fine now." I smiled faintly.

I cursed myself for not coming out with my car, and now I had to trek until the end of the junction before getting a cab.

I smiled awkwardly as I took steps away from the man who just rescued me. I needed to move far away from this place, I knew Oscar would be coming out any moment from now.

I hadn't gone far when I heard the horn of a car behind me.

I tried to quicken my steps, but when I saw who the driver was, I stopped in my tracks.

"Hope you don't mind if I give you a ride?" His face beamed over a smile. I could feel my legs vibrate as this hot guy kept smiling.

"S….sure." I bit my lips, pulling the door open as I joined him.

He started driving, and I'm nervous as he kept his eyes on me.

"I'm Theodore. What about you?" He asked.

"Iris," I replied shortly, not knowing exactly what else to say.

"Seems you got into a fight with someone?"

"Yeah, my ex. We broke up!" I spilled the tea.

"I'm sorry you had to go through that."

"It's okay, I'm fine thanks to you." I bit my lips as our eyes met, and I turned away.

I was beginning to like this drive, and though his car was pretty small and seemed like it needed maintenance, I still found myself happy that I had joined him.

"Are you engaged?" He pointed at the ring I was wearing on my finger.

I laughed softly, "Not anymore." Pulling the ring out of my hand, I threw it outside the car.

'To hell with Oscar, I didn't care about him anymore!'

"So, do you live around?" He asked, and I don't know why I was blushing at his words.

"Not exactly. My pack is a bit far from here, what about you?" Not that I really wanted to know, but I've got to keep the conversation going.

"Nope! I stay very far away."

"So how did you make it to this place?" I'm curious to know, so I turn over to his side.

"Business." He replied. I didn't want to ask him anything further. Besides, we are still strangers to each other.

There is a long silence between us, and I keep wondering how on Earth I was going to get home today with the speed of his car. Such a pity a good guy like him had to parade in this.

I am still thinking when the car suddenly halts, I spot a blush on Theo's face, and I know he is embarrassed.

He got down from the car and tried to check what the problem was, I got down too and just stared at the smoking engine.

"What's the problem?" I asked with a curious face.

"Sorry, but my car kind of broke down." He huffed.

"I'm so sorry about that. Is there any way I could be of help?" I asked him.

"Funny, nope, I just have to call the guy who repairs my car and get this sorted out."

I nodded, not knowing exactly what to say.

"Hey, there's a restaurant nearby.

Do you mind if we can stay there and have something while waiting?"

"Sure, I will get my bag."

I'm literally screaming inside, I like him so much already, and even though I haven't confirmed if he feels the same way, I have a feeling something good was about to happen tonight.
