I placed my cutlery down on my empty plate and reached for the glass of wine that sat beside it. My eyes were on Theodore as I brought the cup to my lips and took a sip.

He sat there watching me ever since he finished his dinner, a bright unwavering smile on his face as he intertwined his fingers and used them as a resting place for his chin.

“Why do you keep looking at me like that?” I chuckled as I wiped my mouth with a tablecloth.

“You’re just so beautiful, I wonder how I became the luckiest man in the world by just deciding to give you a ride that day.”

I gave him a teasing smile as I leaned in closer to the table. “So, you mean you didn’t have any intention of asking me out when you picked me up?”

He chuckled loudly. “Please, I mean yes. That was the reason I asked if you wanted a ride, but the minute you stepped into my car I already knew I had no shot.”

“Well, that didn’t stop you, if I remember clearly, you were all sweet and shooting shots when we stopped by that restaurant.”
