IRIS

I was sitting at the edge of my bed, happy and texting Theo. Tianah is here too, and we were supposed to be discussing and chatting, but I was so busy caught in the web of my sweetheart that I could barely even hear a word she was saying.

"Hey!" Tianah snapped, and I could see her face go red as she stared at my phone and then at me.

"Sorry," I apologized, I dropped the phone and directed my attention to her.

"It's fine. Just tell me, how did it go?" She squeezed my hands tightly.

"Guess?"

"What, you know I'm bad at guessing, babe." She reminded me, and I rolled my eyes.

"Fine, I'll tell you. So, my father agreed to my relationship with Theo." I blushed as Tianah's voice filled the whole room.

"Oh my gosh, don't you dare lie to me?"

"I'm not, and that's not all." I paused, staring as the curiosity on her face increased.

"Just to remind you, young lady, my ears are itching!" She screamed.

I laugh softly, pulling myself together before speaking.

"My father wants to see him tonight. He said he wanted to discuss something important with Theo. I was a little bit scared when I heard that but my mum assured me it was going to be a wonderful surprise that I would really love. I'm so excited, I almost can't wait to see him, to know what my father wants to say and all that." I narrated to Tianah, who listened very attentively to me while stuffing popcorn into her mouth.

"I ain't gonna miss tonight then." I noticed a sudden calmness in her voice and I'm unsure about what that was supposed to be about but when I turned over to her, I could see the sad expression written all over her face.

"Tianah, what's wrong?" I queried.

"I broke up with my boyfriend. It's not a big deal, I guess." She sniffled.

I was shocked to hear about that, I pulled her into a hug, "Everything is going to be okay." I assured her even when the only thing I desperately wanted to say was 'told you he was going to break your heart.'

I tried my best to make her feel happy by taking her to a nearby restaurant, where we had lunch together. We spent half of the day in each other's company before parting ways. She had promised to come back in the evening and I was eager to see her as I drove back to my home.

It was half past 5 pm, and Theo was supposed to arrive by 6 pm, which meant I had roughly thirty minutes to prepare and await his arrival.

I saw my mum running towards the kitchen and I tried to speak to her.

"Mum, where is dad?"

"I don't know, probably on his way back." She retorted.

"Don't worry sweetheart he will be back soon. You just go up to your room and get dressed." She patted my shoulders and continued what she was doing.

I guess I shouldn't be worried. My father should be back any moment from now. I walked back to my room and picked up my phone to chat with Theo. I know he must be worried about why I haven't replied to his message for a while.

"Hi love," I texted. He saw the message shortly after and replied to it.

"Just getting out of the house now, I'll be there in less than 35 minutes."

"Okay, I can't wait to see you. Bye." I pushed the send button and dropped my phone on the bed. It was time to dress up and get ready for my father's announcement.

I was ready, and I stared at my phone waiting for Theo's text, but I didn't see any of them.

I was becoming worried and afraid of the worst. I don't know, but I have this stupid thought that my father had asked him to stay away from me.

"Come on, Iris, you are thinking way too much." I heard my wolf growling within, but I was too busy being worried that I ignored her.

I pictured my father harassing Theo over the phone and telling him he wasn't rich and good enough to marry his daughter. After my father learned about Oscar's behavior, he had a change of mind and insisted I marry a rich man who could take care of me and not the other way round.

"You've got to stop thinking too much." Tianah's voice comes from behind.

"That's not helping," I said, pacing around the entire room.

I checked my phone, but still, there was no message from Theo, and I was on the verge of screaming when I heard the doorbell ring.

My eyes met with Tianah's as we both raced out of my room.

Theo is standing in the sitting room as my mum welcomes him into the house. He is not alone. His brother, who was the Beta of the pack, had come along with him, and I felt relieved the second my father came out to welcome him as well.

I carefully climbed down the stairs to meet them, I felt guilty for thinking my father would go to the extent of wading Theo away from me

I pinched Theo in his hand and whispered into his ears, "You almost scared me."

"I'm sorry, babe." He kissed me on my nose, and I blushed, knowing my mum saw that.

We all went to the dining room where dinner was served.

My father cleared his throat before speaking.

"Which pack do you belong to?" My dad asked.

Theo sat up, "Dark Moon Pack, sir."

I loved the way Theo acted so responsibly, and I bet I was not the only one who thinks that way too.

"Nice, so you said you want to marry my daughter?" Dad continued.

"Yes.." I saw him gulp as he spoke.

There was silence for a while as we all waited to hear what my father had to say.

"Well, my wife and I have decided to equip your pack with facilities, we will also see that the pack is rebuilt and work starts tomorrow. I'm only doing this for the comfort and happiness of my daughter as she has decided that you are the one she wants to stick with."

I was not exactly sure I heard what my father said, but the sudden scream from Theo confirmed that what I heard wasn't fake.

He pulled me into a hug, and I felt a liquid substance escape his eyes.

"Thank you so much, Iris."

He turned over to my father, "Thank you, sir. I promise I will never fail your trust, I won't disappoint you." He assured my parents.

Seeing Theo this happy lifted my spirit, and I remain grateful to my parents. They had just given our relationship a green flag, and I was so happy Theo's once-destroyed pack would be rebuilt, and life would be much better for us.
