At slauson’s house

KING ARLO'S POV

"Please have a seat." The Slauson guy said as we walked into his house. It wasn't the most exquisitely designed home but it was modest. At least, my son was being raised in a decent place. That much was a relief.

"Thank you, Slauson." Jordy beamed, plumping on the couch. Her smile was enchanting. And she was feeling quite at home. Hasn't it been just a minute since we walked in?

"Arlo?" Slauson snapped me out of my thoughts. "You should sit too, please." He gestured at the couch. A different couch, opposite Jordy.

"No, it's fine. I'd rather stand." I brushed off his attempt at being polite and creating whatever calm ambiance between us.

It was never going to happen. He already started this meeting on the wrong foot. When he punched my face a while back at his thoughtless attempt to defend Jordy, that was him, killing whatever little chances of us being cordial with each other.

He called me a jackass when he punched me and I intend to be just that. An ab
