We all sat waiting in anticipation for the witness Nikkini claimed she had.

When I asked her the name of the maid, she was unable to tell me. That’s understandable; I too don’t know the name of all the maids in the palace.

Luckily she was able to explain the maid’s features and tell us that the girl was a kitchen maid.

Herley didn’t seem rankled at the fact that Nikkini had a witness who had seen them together. She seemed quite smug.

“Arnou, do you know who exactly Nikkini described?” I asked him in a quiet voice as I tried to piece together a reason for Herley’s smugness.

“I have an idea who it is but I can’t be sure,” He whispered back.

I began to panic as the guards with the maid arrived at the meeting room and their entrance was announced.

“Arnou who?” I demanded in a quiet panic.

“Here she is,” He replied as the doors to the meeting room opened up and two guards entered hauling a small figure between them.
