Lilliana’s POV

Hurriedly, as fast as my legs could carry me, I made my way out of the venue and started walking back home. I didn’t wait for Andre because I wanted to be left alone and I was glad when I didn’t feel anyone following me.

I still couldn’t bring myself to believe all of this but Nikolai’s words back in the hall kept playing back in my head and my cheeks burned in remembrance.

It was a humiliating, deflating feeling that kept washing through me as I walked. My vision was blurry and my eyes stung from all the tears I was trying to hold back.

“How could he? How could he do this to me?” I said to myself, doing nothing to keep my thoughts inside as my voice shook and my lips quivered.

My face felt hot and I didn’t need a soothsayer to tell me that I was crimson with resentment and humiliation. My pride had been seriously bruised but what was I thinking? That he was going to care about me?

My embarrassment gradually turned into fury as I channeled all of my anger into my moveme
