Chapter Nineteen

ELSA'S POV.

I returned to my room, my back still aching from the previous night's events. I wanted to take a bath and prepare for the day ahead, hoping that things would start to look up. As I drew the bath and waited for it to fill up, I realized that I was still confused about what had happened between me and Savio. I was still scared, yet inexplicably drawn to him. I pushed those thoughts aside for now and decided to focus on getting ready.

I stepped outside to grab my clothes, but what I saw next completely shocked me. My mother was sitting on my bed, blood streaming from her eyes. I was taken aback and couldn't believe what I was seeing. I thought I was hallucinating or something. Her eyes were like nothing I had ever seen before. They were completely red as if she had been crying blood. Her skin was ashen, and she looked as if she was on the brink of death.
