Chapter Thirty.

Sorah’s POV.

“Finally,” I exhale with shoulders slouching and clammy gloved hands gripping the wrought handrail of the railing surrounding the spacious balcony.

“I can get me some breather.”

The cold air is rather soothing to me as I raise my eyes and look up into the cloud-covered sky. In contrast to the engaging merriment alive inside the banquet hall, it’s so tranquil. Just the respite I need.

Devon must be happily chatting away with his colleagues and friends. I couldn’t last another minute in there when they all curiously crowded me and bombarded me with many questions. I smile wryly as I watch the deep grey clouds move slowly.

“He’s the life of the ball. What an admirable man he is.”

He sure is, being able to garner everyone’s attention right the moment we stepped into the hall. I can never compete with that. All I did was clutch my body into his side shyly and lower my eyes to the floor.

Ah, I think all I did was cause him unnecessary worry. He must’ve felt disturbed
