Chapter Eight

She opened her eyes slowly. Her eyes were still heavy with sleep.

She chuckled when she remembered how last night had gone. They had chatted into the night.

He had told her about his childhood stories. His upbringing seemed fair to her. She wished that her parents were like his parents. But that would mean craving meat pies made from the cloud.

The door opened and she turned to see the intruder. Of course, it was Amelia. None of the servants had the guts to come into her room.

They avoided her like she was a plague. Honestly, she didn't mind. She was used to it already. It would be a lot of pressure if people suddenly changed their opinions of her.

“I see that you are already awake.” She chuckled and sat upright.

“You seem bright today. It seems like you slept well last night.” Amelia nodded and went to open her curtains.

She thought about telling Amelia about him but decided against it.

“Something like that.”
