Chapter Fourteen

She stared at the artwork that was hanging on the wall. She admired the mastery of the artist. She wished she had that talent but she was very talentless.

“Tell me about you,” he spoke out out of the blue.

“Huh?”

“You heard me the first time.” She wondered what he wanted to know about her life that he didn’t know already.

She was sure he had done his investigation before pulling the stunt he pulled on their wedding day. No one could have known that if they didn't have an insider.

She gulped. Someone in her father's house was working for him all this while. She shook her head, of what use was the knowledge after all these while?

“I don’t have anything to say.” She hoped he wouldn't push it but she knew he would. That was who he was.

“Everyone has a story and I bet yours was exhausting but we could use it to pass the time.” She resisted the urge to roll her eyes. Maybe they should start with him, she wanted to say but couldn’t instead, she cleared her throat and sat upright.
