Chapter Two

"You look beautiful my love." Her father whispered into her ears he offered her his hand. The door would open in any moment from now and she hoped that the moon goddess would change her father's mind.

"Father please help me I-I can't, he is my mate." She whispered to him keeping the anxiety in her voice hoping that it would make her father change his mind about this. They could still back out now that there's still time.

"Then you have no problem at all Cassidy, he won't hurt you." Instead, happiness filled his eyes. She wondered if he wasn't listening to her. She tried harder again.

"But he is the Lycan king, father" She whispered to the white-haired man beside her. Her face was already white with fear. The fear of the unknown.

"I know baby girl, but there's no two ways about this. I have to do this. You are a strong girl, Cassidy, you will survive." He whispered back. The hairs at the back of his neck were already standing. He couldn't believe he was doing this to his own daughter.

"We started this and we can't back out now. Think about the pack Cassidy. You are saving everyone by this little act." Little? She snorted. She was going to be butchered into pieces. The scene at Elara's room kept playing over and over again. Her hands went to her neck and she rubbed it instinctively.

"You can ask other Alphas for help, Father. I'm sure they will help us. Father, please don't do this to me, I won't survive." She was desperate for her safety. She wished she were something more than just the infamous daughter of the Towers household.

"Remember that Alpha Xavier sought his help when you almost killed his mate!" He thundered at her and she drew in a sharp breath. Tears filled her face destroying her perfect makeup.

He raised his hand and wiped all the tears away trying hard not to feel guilty about what he was about to do.

"You will marry him for the sake of our pack and image. End of discussion!" The tears poured harder. Did her father not know that he had already found out about their little secret or he just didn't care if she lived or not?

She had always known that her parents didn't like her. She had lived with the fact that as long as she was still alive, she would earn their trust slowly but the harsh realization that her death didn't matter to them because she wasn't their perfect golden child hit her hard. She would always be nothing but a murderer in their eyes even though she had no blood in her hands. They would always see her as one.

"Will you stop crying already? Elara never cried, she is an Alpha female. You are taking her place so act like her!" He whispered loudly into her ears as they both stepped out of the car.

Did her father not know that Elara was tired of putting on a strong face all the time? Did they not know that Elara cried in her room almost every night? Clearly, they did not know because even the perfect golden child they claimed to love with all their hearts was nothing but a pawn in this little game of theirs.

Her parents were the most selfish beings. They were saving their face by putting their pups in unspeakable pain.

There was a bitter smile on her face. She hoped that no one noticed. She hadn't walked in Elara's shoes for an entire day but she was already feeling bad forever wishing she had the kind of life that Elara has.

Truly you wouldn't know what someone is facing if you hadn't walked in their shoes for a day. It wasn't even up to six hours since she stepped into Elara's shoes but she was already hurt by the tightness of the shoe.

Her chest tightened as she thought about how hard her sister had tried to appear calm to everyone when she was far from being calm. Her sister was her superhero and this was the only thing she could do to help her sister have the kind of life that she deserved.

The giant door opened and the duo stepped in. Her hair stood alert. She hated how her body reacted to his presence but didn't help with the fact that he had made her almost cum few minutes ago. She hated how she sounded so desperate for him, giving him the satisfaction that she wanted.

When her father left her hand, she wanted to scream and cling to him but she thought about all the lives of the people in the hall. He could get into the heads of the hundreds of werewolves present here and kill them without breaking a sweat. He was that evil and she felt disgusted that she was going to spend the rest of her life with him.

She walked slowly and stopped in front of him. This was not how she envisioned her future with her mate.

He lifted her chin so she could meet his gaze. Only she could see the hatred and the thirst for blood he had hidden properly and he loved how it made her shiver. It reminded him that he was the one in control.

"I will say my vows to my wife in her ear." He blurted out and while everyone present thought it was romantic, Cassidy wished that there would be some objection. But the priest nodded, he too was afraid of what the Lycan king could do. They all were afraid of the devil.

He smirked at her making her feel hot and uncomfortable then he brought his mouth to her ear.

"You dare play me for a fool, you and your father. For that reason, I promise to break your wings. You will no longer fly as you desire. I will make sure you wish for death every single day but death will be far from you, mate." He repeated exactly what he had told her when he barged into her room and his eyes turned a darker shade of red. No one saw that brief change. It was only her and she swallowed her saliva hoping she was keeping a calm face.

"Is there anyone who objects to the union of these two?" The priest asked and Cassidy looked at the door hoping that someone would barge in and save her from the clutches of the devil. Her eyes moved over to where her parents sat, She pleaded to them for the last time but no one stood up. No one attempted to save her and just like that, all hopes were lost.

He looked around the hall, staring hard at every single one present in the hall as though he were daring them to make a scene.

"Since there is no one, we will proceed to the next step." Their wrists were cut and their blood was mixed. This was the final step, there was no going back.

"I now pronounce you husband and wife. Your union is sealed by the moon goddess and therefore can not be broken easily." Everything the priest said made her sick, she wanted to throw up.

The little peace she had in her life was gone. She looked over to her side and her mother smiled at her genuinely for the first time in her life.

'Good girl' she read her mother's mouth and she fought hard to stop herself from throwing up.

His hand moved to her back and with just one touch, all the sickness was gone.

"No one except me is allowed to make you feel uneasy. No one mate, not even your parents." He whispered to her as her parents approached them making the hairs at the back of her neck stand.

"Congratulations." Her father said and she felt sick again. If he mentioned another word, she might end up destroying his expensive clothes with her sickness.

"Stop talking, You are making my mate uneasy and I don't like that." She watched as the color drained off her mother's face at the realization. Daisy's eyes flickered to her daughter and her mate but Alpha Xarold didn't look as though he were shocked. What else were they hiding from her?

"We already prepared a room for the two of you. You can begin your journey tomorrow." Alpha Xarold said with a tight smile. For a minute, Cassidy thought that he was planning on saving her. The devil's hand tightened around hers.

"Besides, I want to talk to you about what we agreed on. You would make my pack stronger and more relevant." Cassidy almost died when those words left her father's mouth. He wasn't planning on saving her at all? She would have known that he was only chasing his interest.

She wished she could go far away from the people she thought were her parents. She couldn't stand a minute with them.

"As much as your offer is tempting my mate doesn't want to stay another minute with you so we will take our leave now." Cassidy's heart stopped beating. Was he reading her mind?

"Yes, I am." Was he also a mind reader?

"No, I am not. You are too easy to read."

His grip on her tightened and she could feel her blood oozing out.

"We will take our leave now." He dragged her with him.

"Can I have a word with my daughter?" Daisy asked slowly.

"She doesn't want to, we are leaving." Daisy watched as the devil dragged her daughter with him. For the first time in her life, she wished that she could spend a second with her infamous daughter.

"Can I say something?"

"You don't have to."

"Can you please stop doing that? It's creepy."

"No." He thundered and she breathed in. She had to stop thinking of anything around him if she wanted to escape.

"I won't let you escape. This is your hell now. You will continue to pay for what you have done for the rest of your life." The car came to a halt in front of a huge building and she turned white. She was in the devil's territory already? That soon?

"This is a hotel and this is where we would spend the night mate, Don't be so dumb."

She stopped breathing for the fourth time since the day started. She hoped that they would stay in different rooms but when the hotel attendant looked at them with a smile and handed only one key to them, she wished the ground would swallow her.

"Enjoy your honeymoon." She said with a wink and Cassidy tried hard not to shiver. Honeymoon?

"Yes, that's what humans call it when they spend time alone with their life partner after marriage." She was going to be alone with him?

"Yes for the night." What if he strangles her?

"Will you stop thinking out loud?" He barked at her.

" You tell me how?" She gingered.

His eyes turned black as he dragged her closer to him so that she could feel his breath on her skin.

"You don't get to talk back to me, I won't hesitate to cut your throat the next time you do so. Remember, I am the one doing you a favor here, one more noise and your whole family and pack would be gone." His fingers sank deeper into her waist drawing out blood and she fought hard to not cry.

"You will pay the consequences of your actions. I will make your life a living hell. I will bring you so close to death but I will bring you back to life every time. You will understand the reason I am called the devil." He pushed her away from him and she hit her waist on the edge of the bed. She groaned in pain but he didn't turn back. He walked into the bathroom to wash himself leaving her to her fate.

Tears flowed like a river as realization dawned on her. Her father was wrong, he wasn't going to make an exception because she was his mate.

She thought her parents were the demons in her life but she just realized that in hell, there was hierarchy and her mate was the king of hell.

At this point, she realized one thing, not everyone was meant to have a happy ending and she was one.

"And one more thing, you should be fully naked when I step out of the bathroom. I wish to perform my marital duties."

The expression on her face was unspeakable.

She had saved her virginity all this while for the devil!
