Chapter 13

The persistent ringing of the phone pierced through the silence of the large bedroom as the sound waves reverberated off the walls. With slow, deliberate steps, the receiver walked in the direction where the phone lay on the large, lustrous surface of the marble table, as delicate crystal figurines sparkled like diamonds, catching the light of the chandeliers and scattering it in a thousand shimmering rays.

Finally, with a click, the ringing abruptly stopped as the slender hand placed the phone to the ear.

"Speak," the raspy voice said.

"More updates on the lady. She's currently seeing someone else. She is no longer a problem." The hoarse voice on the other end of the line reported

"Good job."

"Would you like some information on the person she's currently with?"

"No. My goal has already been achieved. I don't care about her life anymore, as long as my son is no longer in it. You can bring her phone over to me. I'd like to hang onto it a little longer; it might be useful to me," Mrs. C
