It turns out I had no reason to get pissy. Connor took my hand and squeezed it, never breaking eye contact with Mandy, Miranda, or whatever her name was.
"She is exactly my type. I just dated the wrong kind of girls in high school," he smiled.
Oh yes, you tell that skanky hoe you are mine, I thought dubiously.
"Alright, I'll leave you to it. Enjoy your dinner," she smiled and walked away. She gave her ass a little twirl on the way as if to show off her newfound seductive side. Begone, thot.
"What was that about?" I asked Connor after she was out of our earshot.
"What do you mean?" he looked at me with an oblivious expression on his face.
I woke up feeling refreshed. Last night was amazing, and so was this morning. Connor didn't waste any opportunity. He woke me up early in the morning by caressing my thighs and kissing me incessantly. I was in heaven. He left shortly after saying he had an important meeting, so I went back to sleep after that.I didn't have to go to the office today, so I was free to do whatever I wanted. I decided to indulge myself with shopping and getting Mani and Pedi.I kept looking at my phone, hoping Connor would message me, but there was none.Stop it, Anya. Why are you so clingy all of a sudden? Connor is a busy man. He won't text you all day like a teenager!I needed a distraction. I decided to get a new hairstyle. My hair was too long and t
"Don't leave. Let's have lunch together," Connor said."I should go. I promised I'd meet with Ansel and Jessica today," I said."Yeah? But can they do this for you?" Connor smirked and kissed my earlobe."Eww, I hope not. We aren't that kind of siblings," I laughed and pushed him off."Can I see you later tonight?" he said quietly and looked at me expectantly. How could I say no to those eyes? I could tell why those girls were putty in his hands back then. I'm turning into one of them."Hmm...maybe," I smiled and kissed him on the cheek. I headed out the door when he finally let me go. I never pictured Connor as clingy, but I loved every minute of it.
When I saw him, my only emotion was a relief. He must've sensed something was wrong with me as he stared at me intently."Hey," I smiled. He encircled his arms on my waist and pulled me into a hug. "What's wrong?" he whispered into my hair."Nothing. Why do you ask?" I closed my eyes and let his warmth spread through me."Liar. I saw Jessica leave in a hurry, and now I see you looking peeved. You can tell me if there's anything wrong. I can help," he said and kissed my forehead."I don't know. I think Jessica is doing it again," I blurted out."Doing what again?" he asked me, looking puzzled.
Two days have passed, and I haven't heard from Jessica. I ended up going home after I visited Connor's office to retrieve some boring documents. He had to sort out a lot of other things, so I decided to leave him alone. But I made sure I gave him a long, lingering kiss to show him what he would be missing out on.Mom and Dad invited all of us for dinner. Including Connor, since we were engaged. I can't believe I am saying this. Being engaged to Connor Williams was the last thing I expected to happen. But it felt so...natural. I've known him my entire life, and even though I acted like he was my enemy, I couldn't help but feel attracted to him, and that used to piss me off.But not anymore. Now I just feel warm and giddy all over. All
"Miranda? What are you doing here?" I arched my brow."I came over to invite you to my housewarming party tonight. I'm glad you are here, Connor. I'd like you to come too," she smiled."Oh, I don't know," Connor narrowed his eyes as if to assess the person in front of him."Please? It'd be amazing. You'll see some people from our high school. They'll love it if they see the coolest guy from our school," Miranda pouted. What is this? A popularity contest?"We'll be there," I said before he answered."Great. I'll see you guys soon!" With that, she ran back to her apartment."Why did
Connor and I walked into the party after a few hours. I was still in a daze from earlier. It took me forever to get out of bed. Connor had to drag me out."Do I look okay?" I asked him. I needed to look hot in order to show Miranda that she doesn't stand a chance."Beautiful," Connor smiled. There weren't too many people in the apartment. I did recognize a few people from high school and stopped to talk to them. I didn't see the host, Miranda, anywhere."She is upstairs, finishing up something," Sally, who used to be in my math class said. She narrowed her eyes at me. "So you and Connor, huh? I'm not surprised," she grinned. Why do people keep saying it's not shocking? It was shockin
My stomach twisted into a knot. I was hoping this wouldn't happen so soon."What happened?" I asked, still hoping I was wrong about everything."I came home early from work and found Jessica in bed..." Ansel sighed. "With another man."I gasped. This was worse than I thought. I thought Ansel simply found out about it. But seeing it in his own eyes...must've been so horrible."Ansel, I'm so sorry!" I cried."We just got married," Ansel shook his head. "It hasn't even been a month yet." His face was red. His eyes were burning with rage and despair."I'm so sorry, bro," Connor looked at him with sympathy.
Oh, you've got to be shitting me."What are you doing here?" I tried to hide my frustration, but my voice came out hoarse and irritable."I just got a job at this company! Isn't this great?" she chirped.I'm thinking about many words in my head, and 'great' isn't one of them."Now we can spend more time together and catch up," she looked at Connor and smiled flirtatiously.Connor shifted uncomfortably and cleared his throat. "Ah, Miranda. I'm a very busy man. I'm sure we'll be too focused on work to catch up," he said sternly."Yes. This is a place of work, not a house party," I narrowed my eyes so hard that they looked like a slit.
