Hayden had arrived at my house a few hours later. He knocked on my door for about an hour, while calling my phone. I sat on the bed, put on a romance movie at full volume while getting drunk. I know it's not healthy, but it makes me feel good.

The next morning, I left early for work, which I had set aside to pretend to be a teenager.

"Kat, can you review these documents?" Lily asked me.

I nodded, and she placed them on my desk. Then, she left. I took the documents out of the envelope and started reading.

The door to my office opened again. I looked up from the documents and saw Grace with a bottle of wine and two crystal glasses.

"Congratulations! I'm so proud of you," she said.

She sat in front of me and poured me a glass.

"Tell me everything, I want every detail," she asked excitedly.

I took the wine glass and drank it in one gulp.

"Some guy thought I was his mother and congratulated me on how good a son he had," I said.

Grace frowned and ended up drinking directly from the bottle.
