A foiled attempt.

Evie's POV

As I entered the room and switched on the light, something felt eerie. I was about to brush the feeling off when I saw a pillow on the floor. I rolled my eyes, thinking that Miss Aurora must have let it fall off when she turned in bed. I bent down to pick it up and dropped it back on the bed. I smiled to myself when she didn't move.

"She must be tired," I mused. I had to confess that I was shocked when she came over to the house and we spent time together today, only for the Alpha to ask her to stay for the night when it was time for her to leave. I tried to convince her to leave, but she was more than happy to spend the night with me. Now that she was fast asleep, I felt guilty about leaving her alone for hours, but I didn't have much choice as I had to make sure everything was in order at the mansion.

I was no longer the head of the servants at the mansion. The Alpha left me the choice to choose whoever I wanted for the role. Since Grace had always been the one to direct
