Chapter 49.

Last night wasn’t at all what I expected. I couldn't sleep mainly because I kept hearing footsteps around the house. I'm not sure if I was just being paranoid or if someone was walking around the house.

I left for class earlier than I usually do. I wanted to see if I could have at least five minutes of sleep in the parking lot before class, and once my alarm beeped off I got up and headed to Miss Val’s class. I entered the room and found c.p.r. dolls placed on every desk in the classroom she then started showing us the steps of giving c.p.r. to a child under the age of ten.

She went through the steps,

1. Check for alertness. Tap the child gently. See if the child moves or makes a noise. Shout, "Are you OK?"

2. If there is no response, shout for help. Tell someone to call 911 or the local emergency number and get an AED if available. Do not leave the child alone until you have done CPR for about 2 minutes.

3. Carefully place the child on its back. If there is a chance the child has a
