Chapter 3

Abigail's p.o.v;

At school,

I came to the library to fetch some books for my assignment ; It was an easy enough task, as there were not very many students.

A girl with long blonde hair stood in the back of the room and stared out the window for a few minutes before she moved away from it.

“Excuse me!” I call from inside the library. “Do you need any help finding something?”

She turns around at my voice. “No, thank you,” she says in a deep voice. “I just need to study alone.”

As I walk toward her, I notice that one of the straps of her backpack is loose. As I approach her, I can tell that she’s really upset. She has tear stained cheeks and eyes red as rubies; I want to reach out and touch her but don’t want to make things worse.

The librarian walks towards us before I get the chance so I turn around to face the shelf instead.

“Here they are, ma’am,” the librarian says as she places them on the desk next to the girl.

Her hands are still shaking when she picks up the stack of books and puts them under her arm. Without saying goodbye, she leaves the library, walking down the stairs without taking another step.

When I turn around again, the librarian is looking at me curiously.

“That was strange, wasn’t it,” I say.

She shrugs. “Strange or not, those were valuable books,” she tells me. “If you’re gonna be studying here at school, you better learn how to use your new privileges wisely.”

I nod. “Thank you,” I say, trying to sound sincere.

“You’re welcome, honey.” She turns around then starts walking away. “Let me know if you need anything else.” And she disappears into the hallway, leaving me alone.

After reading through the books, I have only skimmed over the material that I needed to read. I close the books and put them back exactly where I found them. Then, I decided to leave with the books which I needed for references.

While I was walking in the hallway carrying the books, I saw that blonde girl again. She's standing in front of a door with her hand on its handle. She looks very nervous, but I don't think she notices me watching her. The way her eyes are watering and the way her shoulders are shaking makes me feel uncomfortable about staring at her like this. I don't want to make fun of her or anything like that. She seems to be very good looking, maybe too much so for just a high school student like herself, though that doesn't stop me from observing her. I'm not someone who approaches others when I see them, but it was different this time. I had a feeling that I wanted to walk up to her and ask what's bothering her. But I changed my direction and continued walking to my locker.

After keeping books inside the locker, I headed to my classroom. My hands were shaking when I reached the door, I was nervous about today’s classes. This is not how things usually work out. But then again, this is a normal day. It’s just a routine class with all the students in the class. I made up my mind that this is not my middle school to get scared of and opened the door and walked in.

I took a seat beside and placed my books on the table for my class. The other students were busy looking at me. I could feel their eyes burning into the back of my head but ignored it as best as I could. It wasn't that unusual, especially if you are a new student. It didn't really matter to me though, as long as I'm making progress I'm fine. And that's all that matters.

I looked out the window, watching the students walk through the door. Some had already made themselves comfortable in the chairs, others were taking pictures or doing something else. I just watched them come and go like the regular school day went on.

The bell rang again and I quickly gathered my things and started packing up before anyone decided to bother me again. A hand touched my shoulder and I froze, slowly turning around to face an amused looking blonde girl. It was her who I saw earlier this morning at the library.

"Nice hat." She complimented with a smile on her face as she pointed at my baseball cap. She looked totally different from how I saw earlier.

"Thanks," I said with a small smile as I picked it up, putting it on once again. I grabbed my bag and left the classroom before someone asked about how it was in here.

While I was walking in the hallway, that blonde girl sprang in front of me and asked, "Why did you follow me?"

"What?"

"I saw you following me this morning. What were you up to?"

I lowered my head and said, "I didn't follow. I was just looking at you. You looked nervous and all."

"Yeah, I broke up with my boyfriend so I was kinda sad."

"You're smiling now. Did you two get back together?"

She shook her head and said, "I got another boyfriend."

She's fast.

"I'm Emma."

"I'm Abigail."

"I know your name already. You're that new student right? Everyone's talking about you in the class."

"What are they talking about me?"

"The way you introduced yourself looked like you're inviting others to eat you up."

"Did they say that?"

"No, it was me who's telling you what you looked like."

"I…"

Emma patted on my back saying, "Even if you're conservative, act like you're strong in front of them. Otherwise you'll get eaten up for sure. Anyways, it's good to have another human in my class. Welcome to Westchester high."

"And you…"

"I'm a human too."

I nodded and asked, "Are we friends now?"

"Yeah, we are. I have to hurry up to a class. Will see ya at the cafeteria." And walked away.

While I was happy to have a human friend, I saw Luna walking beside me.

Luna said, "Looks like you're not OCD."

"I…"

"It's fine if you don't want to be my friend but hear me out. Don't be friends with Emma. She's not good as she looks on the outside." And walks away.

Does Luna think I'll believe some werewolf words?

After my classes were over, I went to the cafeteria where I saw Emma with her friends. she signalled me to come to her table. I walked over to where she was sitting and sat opposite of her. Her group of friends were bigger than I expected. We all said hi. They asked me about my impression of this school. I lied that I liked it here to them. They seemed to have lost interest in me after hearing me talking and went back to talking among them.

While I was eating my food until I saw a guy walking past the cafeteria who looked suspicious. He had dark hair and eyes. As he walked away from us Emma asked me what I wanted. I told her it was nothing and continued eating my food.

When we came out of the cafeteria, I parted in my way saying that I have to go to the library and walked in the opposite direction. Since I was always alone, being in a group felt uncomfortable for me.

While i was walking, i saw the guy who i saw earlier, dark hair and eyes was talking to some guy. Even though I tried not to look at him, I couldn't because of his facial features. He looked like a prince that came out of a fairytale. Suddenly, we locked eyes so I averted my gaze as soon as possible and continued walking in the hallway.

"Wait up!"

Did he see me watching him? Shit!

I turned and looked at him without giving him an answer.

He asked, "Are you the new student from Louisiana?"

I nodded at him.

"What's your name?"

"Abigail."

He extended his hand for a shake and said, "I'm Aiden, the representative for the senior high school. It's nice to meet you. If you want anything, you can inform me."

I nodded and thanked him. Wow, he looks handsome. His jawline is sharp and defined, his hair dark as night and soft to the touch I guess. His hair's pulled back in a ponytail, and his eyes are set with dark lashes and a warm brown colour that brings out the green in his irises. He is wearing a white turtleneck that's pulled up to cover his bare midriff, black jeans, and black high tops. His arms are muscular, but covered by loose cotton, and his hands are adorned by tattoos from wrist to fingers. I hope he's not a werewolf too. But with his attire, he couldn't possibly be a human though.

He snapped his fingers in front of my face which brought me back to the senses.

He raised his eyebrows and asked, "What is it?"

I shaked my head and said, "Nothing." And walked away from him.

Does this school have all the handsome guys and girls all over the world? I smiled at myself for having stupid thoughts and headed to my next class.
