Chapter 2

Once Ruth threw the box, she rubbed the red mark left behind by the bag in which she had carried the box. She then looked at the two people on the bed.

“Have I been so nice to you two that you think you can do whatever you want to me?”

“You b*tch…”

“Caelus Warren, even if I had to spend the rest of my life alone, I would not marry someone like you! I won’t say anything about who you like, but you shouldn’t have plotted against me! This is just the beginning. I’m going to make you pay in the future!”

After saying that, she turned around and went through the door.

Pained roars came from the room. “Ruth, you b*tch! This isn’t over!”

Ruth left the apartment. Her heels made loud clacking sounds against the floor while her chest heaved.

The next moment, she stopped. She had come to a sudden realization. “This is my apartment. Why should I be the one to leave?”

She took out her phone and called the apartment complex’s real estate management company. Once she told the person who she was, she said coldly, “I haven’t returned to my apartment in three years, and I suddenly found a pair of unwanted guests in it. Do get rid of them as soon as possible.”

The real estate agent who was on-call snapped awake and apologized to her repeatedly. Then, with a security guard in tow, he headed to the apartment.

......

Ruth dragged her luggage behind her aimlessly through the streets at dawn.

She was not really that sad, but she was quite frustrated.

She grew up with Caelus, and he knew her well. He had also once put in a lot of effort to win her heart. However, after hearing the things he said tonight, she felt like the past three years had been a joke.

So, he never liked her. He just liked her money.

But that was not all. The most frustrating thing was that he just had to cheat on her at this point in time. Where on earth was she supposed to get herself a boyfriend now?

“Damn it! Those two b*stards…!”

She sent the pebble in front of her flying with a kick.

It flew up and hit a Rolls Royce by the side with a loud, resounding thud.

Thud!

Ruth was stunned. There was only one thought in her mind.

“It’s a luxury car, and it’s a limited edition.

“It got scratched by the pebble I kicked.”

Ruth walked over slowly and rubbed off the dust on the car, only to discover a decently-sized car. She drew closer to look into the car, but there was no one inside.

She thought of the soup she bought, then stared at the car in front of her. After that, she sighed long and hard as she thought. “Fine. This will be the last time I spend any money in relation to that b*stard.”

Once she wrote her name and contact number on a piece of paper and left it under the windshield wiper, Ruth turned around and made a call. “Where are you? We’re going to drink.”

Soon after she left, the owner of the Rolls Royce showed up.

He stopped beside the car and stared at the scratch. It was not large, but it still made him frown. He picked up the note written in flamboyant handwriting.

[Sorry. I scratched your car. I’ll pay for it. My contact number is XXX…]

“It’s a woman, Mr. Blakewell, and she’s gorgeous!”

The driver secured the security footage and showed it to Abel Blakewell.

The video showed a ridiculously exquisite face drawing closer to the car to take a look. Disappointment shone in her eyes before she stood up straight and left the note behind.

Abel smirked and asked, “How many has it been this month?”

His driver counted. “This is the ninth one. Mr. Blakewell, if you don’t want to get a new car, why don’t you consider the master’s suggestion and go for a matchmaking session?”

Abel looked away and caressed the note. After some time, he said, “Have Kallan make the arrangements.”

Ruth was drinking. After downing a few shots, she gave off a murderous aura.

Serenity Springfield watched Ruth glaring murderously at the shot glass in front of her and moved it away from her without a single word. “Look. It’s just a breakup. Do you have to act this way? It’s not worth it for a man—”

Ruth clenched her fist and slammed it against the table. “It’s not just a breakup! He cheated on me! And he did it with Luna!”

Serenity was stunned silent.

“And you didn’t castrate him on the spot?”

“Why did it have to be Luna?! He used my money to be her sugar daddy!” Ruth did not answer her. However, the more she thought about it, the angrier she became. Then, she grabbed a beer bottle and took a big gulp from it.

Serenity opened her mouth, but she did not know how to comfort Ruth.

If Caelus had only cheated on her, Ruth would not have been so angry. After all, she was a carefree person. But he just had to cheat on her with Luna, her father’s illegitimate daughter. That was the same as stomping on Ruth’s pride and spitting on it.

“What’re you going to do—”

“I have to get married!” Ruth declared after slamming the beer bottle on the table.

Serenity’s eyelid twitched. “Calm down, sis. Caelus is a b*stard! He’s not worthy of you!”

“Of course he isn’t! Don’t you have a lot of fresh meat at your club? Get me someone from a decent family! We’re going to the City Hall tomorrow!”

Serenity did not know what to say to her.

Ruth was not a reckless person. She knew what she wanted, and she had the courage to give her all for something she wanted, just like how she had invested in Caelus for three years without asking for anything in return.

Serenity knew Ruth far too well, which was why she did not put this matter off. She screened through all the people who fit Ruth’s criteria and sent her the documents.

Even so, Serenity was still worried. The next morning, she called Ruth.

By then, Ruth had already entered a restaurant called the Tower Among Clouds. Once she saw the caller ID, she answered her phone. “What’s up? I’ve already received your email. There’s nothing wrong with the person you chose. I’m about to meet him and see what sort of person he is.”

“Sis, I feel like I need to remind you that marriage is a major event in life. Are you serious?”

“I’ve never been more serious in my life.”

“Even if you want to spite that b*stard, you don’t have to sacrifice yourself for it, you know? I can’t guarantee you that no one will figure out his identity. Think about what happened three years ago. Are you willing to throw your reputation to the wind?”

“I’m not as stupid as to get married for the sake of revenge. I’m hanging up. I see him.”

The soulless, busy ringtone told Serenity that her efforts to dissuade Ruth from her plan were fruitless.

She stared at her dimmed screen and was absolutely baffled as she thought. “She saw him? Didn’t he just leave? Damn… That brat looked completely calm and nonchalant just now. I thought he wasn’t attracted to the idea of being a beautiful girl’s sugar baby!”

A man with an outstanding demeanor sat beside the window in the Tower Among Clouds.

He was around twenty-eight years old and was dressed in a white dress shirt paired with black dress pants, which gave him a chaste air. He had a hand wrapped around a glass of water, and his knuckles were prominent. On his wrist was a branded watch that showed his outstanding taste.

Ruth cocked an eyebrow as she thought. “They did say that a person looks stunning when they clean up and put on nice clothes. This gigolo looks even more regal than Caelus when he dresses up.”

She walked over to him, sat down, and put her bag beside her. “Sorry for the wait.”

The man stopped sipping his water for a moment and looked at the woman in front of him.

When his assistant saw this, he wanted to step forward, but the man brought up his hand, and the assistant froze in place. Then, he sat down again.

“You should know the specifics. We’ll each be getting what we want from the marriage, but I have two requests. First, we won’t be announcing our marriage to the public. Second, you have to show up before my family when I need you to.”

Ruth spoke quickly, and she did so in a frank and professional manner.

While speaking, she sized up the face across from her, and she found herself getting increasingly satisfied, which led to her spontaneously changing her mind about how much allowance she was going to give him. “One hundred thousand a month.”

Fifty thousand was a disgrace for his face.
