Jamie and Raoul headed into the city to meet the King of Rogues. Raoul was obviously slightly nervous about the visit. Jamie, on the other hand, was excited. She loved the bustle, smells and colours of the city. As Jamie was trying to cast them all to memory, as Roaul guided her to a tavern called The Cat’s Claw. Jamie walked into the Tavern and it reminded her of The Crone’s Head, except there were far more decorations on the walls and doors leading off to smaller rooms. The Tavern was full of punters, and there were a couple of barmaids rushing around with jugs of beer. The maids were not scared of slapping the customers if they got too touchy. 

The next few weeks were the busiest in Jamie’s life. But she felt happy that she had a purpose and was learning so much. The only downside was that she did not see much of Raoul as he was constantly carrying out his duties. She often fell asleep and woke up in an empty bed. The days were filled with Elemental Guard training. Jamie had fitnesses and fighting skills in the morning, in the afternoon it was more academic. Jamie excelled in the morning sessions. She spent time in each of the four elemental fight sessions. This raised a few eyebrows at first,  but it soon became normal. Jamie started to make a few friends as well, one of them was Rose a water user and a fierce spear fighter. Rose Stormswell was petite 5 foot 4  Girl, but people had made the mistake of thinking they could bully her. Blackthorn had been pacing all day, which rather annoyed Raoul because he was trying to concentrate on some paperwork. "Blackthorn, can you give it a rest!" Jamie did not have any visions or dreams when she was out, a small mercy which she was thankful for. When she did wake up, she was in a light and airy medical room. She tried to move herself in a sitting position, but she felt every muscle in her body ache.Suddenly, Fluff jumped up on her bed, "Ah, you are awake!" He said happily. Jamie noticed that Sam was sleeping in a chair next to her bed. Her heart sank as she hoped Raoul would be there."He got called away by the King," Fluff said, obviously annoyed at the situation. "He's going to lose her if he doesn't be careful," Fluff reasoned.Jamie nodded sadly as she asked, "Care to catch me up on what I have missed?

Jamie had cried herself to sleep the previous day. She could not believe the person she loved had brought up the fact that he had brought her for 20 gold pieces. Was that all she was worth to him? If it were not for the bond, would he have chosen someone else?Rose came into her room with Fluff. "Morning! How are you feeling?" She said cheerfully."Ok, I suppose."
