Brass Tacks of the Problem
James enters the bedroom he thought of as Emily’s finding her pacing the room. He knew that look on her face she’d given him that look many times when she wanted to know what he thought he was trying to prove after he’d done something she didn’t want to deal with.             “You need to come clean on exactly what you want here and tell me upfront. I don’t understand what you think this will prove or how you’re going to stop unrest or even war between the two packs. Do you have any concept of what position you’ve now put me in? I have a verbal agreement with Damon, and I’m in jeopardy of reneging on it. How dare you be this selfish?” Emily stopped in the centre of the room and waved a finger at him as she threw these words at him.

Greeting at the Gate
With their bags in hand, Damon and his entourage left the landing area to find the car rental shop. But the scent of wolves from several packs caught his nose. One scent was Emily’s pack. They’d sent several people to welcome them and bring them to the Gibbous Moon territory.             “Beta Damon, welcome. I’m Janine, the current Luna of the Gibbous Moon. This is Alpha Haden of the Silver Hills. From my pack, we have Eva, Jordan, and Hugh. Jordan and Hugh will help you with your bags, and Eva has kindly agreed to be your liaison and guide during your stay with us.” The older female wolf said as she smiled warmly. He sensed no nervousness in her at all. This was a wolf who was confident in her position and power. Note taken.             The petit

When the Adults Speak
Janine watched the others separate and head for the rooms they’d given them. With the late hour, she gave up on doing anything more this evening and headed to her own apartment. She thought she was going there by herself until her door stopped before it closed, and Haden entered.              “We need to talk.” His voice was deeper and raspier than before, which triggered something in the back of her mind. Janine’s instincts went on alert.              “What do we need to talk about that can’t wait until the morning, Haden?” She turned and tried to smile up at him. But she failed, and it turned in to a frown.              “Come on. Let’s have a drink, relax, and talk about what happen

Changing Tactics
“Just leave. I don’t know when you changed. But you’ve changed, and it’s not in a good way. This isn’t how I want to live anymore. Picking up your laundry, sneaking your lovers out of back doors, and fixing near disasters. You say Rebecca means nothing to you. Then what have you been doing all these years? When are you going to grow up and think of someone else for a change? I have a chance at the life I’ve always wanted. A life it denied me the same day my friends’ lives exploded. Yet here you stand talking about you what you want and what you think. When was the last time you asked me what I want? Or how what you do affects me? It hurts me every time you chase some pathetic human woman in the bar. Do you think the humans in there don’t notice you go in with me, chase them, and then I’m the one that hauls you out of there at the end of the night?” Emi

Forbidden Dreams
Damon was dreaming of the small blonde crawling over his bed toward his naked, prone body. Her chocolate brown eyes smouldered as she looked her fill of his body. A thrill ran through his body, causing a shudder of excitement to rock him. She moved slowly between his thighs, moving her lips closer to where he needed to feel them. Her small pink tongue flicked out and sensually stroked her lush lips, leaving them full of promise with what she wanted to do with them on his body. Gods, his mind exploded as her head dipped slowly toward the juncture between his thighs. He saw her lips part as she got within inches of him and breathed in his scent.             Damon woke at the most crucial part of the dream. His frustration radiated through his body. His need brought out his wolf’s instincts, and he growled into the darkened room. He was alon

Conflicts Abound for Haden
“What do you mean she’s gone missing again and you have a large bill for clothing? Pay it and trace where it came from. She’s not bright enough to cover her tracks like that, and she’s never alone. Find out who’s hiding her. No, that’s your job.” Haden couldn’t spend every day and night monitoring his daughter. Not when she’s old enough to have pups of her own. His greatest is that she’ll put herself to the wrong human or create a breach, and that is why Randolph was her keeper.             A knock at the door got Haden’s attention as he disconnected the call. “Come in.” He was happy that it was Evan with the documents. In the last few days, they’d pushed them aside. He wanted to look them over again before signing. Though he’d hoped to find out what was g

For Better or Worse
Emily awoke long enough to register that James climbed into bed with her. She’d not slept in almost two days. He’d not returned except to deliver food to her. Now here he lay, so close behind her, she could feel his body’s heat. However, as tired as she was, Emily couldn’t summon the energy to complain or push him away. It felt almost comforting to her. Soon enough her consciousness faded out to black again, even as her mind registered the smell of whiskey on his breath.             Sometime in the early morning, though, Emily awoke to the delicious feel of a pair of hands caressing her almost bare body. A mouth kissing a trail down her belly toward the juncture of her thighs. Moaning as pleasure zing through her body, she opened to his ministrations.          &nb

Searching Takes a Turn
Eva drove Damon about the main sections of the pack territory. Landmarks and features then showing where they were on maps. So, he wouldn’t get lost if they got separated for some unknown reason.             “Now that you’ve seen the general territory. I got a map from our Luna with where people have searched already. So, I figured we could look where they haven’t searched yet. We can use the SUV or switch it for some motorcycles if you’d like. I believe we can get around faster and into more places with motorcycles. But it’s up to you.” Eva just wanted to get out there and find her friend. She felt this tour dragged her down and stalled her search for them. If anyone around had a chance of finding them, it was her.             “W

Making Calls
“Alright. I got as far as whoever is fielding his calls for you. They’ve taken the message, and he has given me his assurance that Alpha Thomas will return our call as soon as he’s finished with the call. He’s on right now.” Haden leaned back in his chair and watched Janine fret. His concern was up. Her scent and movements told him that her anxiety was getting worse.             Haden felt himself reacting to it. His own instincts made him want to throttle the boy for the mess he now put his mother through for him. This wasn’t something you put a parent through, and Haden should know. He’d lost count of the number of times Annabelle disappeared on him. She’d throw a tantrum over one thing or another. Not get her way and then run away to do whatever it was she shouldn’t. Nine times out of ten

Losing Oneself
Emily sat on the old window seat. She watched outside the window as rain poured outside, blotting out the sky and blurring the sight of the forest outside of the house. She didn’t find the key in his clothes and the lock on the door still stayed firmly shut.             She couldn’t figure out a plan of what she could do to avoid everything falling apart. Emily couldn’t wake the twit up because when he drank, he slept like he was dead. She wasn’t sure if he’d remember what he did to her. Emily wasn’t sure if he understood the position. He put so much into it with his wants and actions. She needed to resist the urge now to shift and bite him on the butt. He deserved at least that, if not more. Time passed, and she wasn’t sure how much. By now, it didn’t matter. Everyone would know they were missing
