Cassar rolled his eyes, looking at me. I looked back at him, my eyes blazing. After a small staring contest, Cassar agreed. "Fine."Cassar nodded to Gage and Harlen, they slowly started to make their way out of the cabin. Soren's warriors were not as easily connived to leave. They looked between Cassar and Soren, not sure what to do."It's fine. Go with the others." Soren said kindly to them. They nodded their heads, but walked out the cabin. With one more warning look directed at me and a glare to Soren, Cassar left, closing the door behind him.At first, we were both quiet, watching the other. I marvelled at the similarities between Soren and his son. Soren was the older version of SJ."So," I started, breaking the silence. "How are you getting me out of here?"Soren closely walked over to me. "Do you know why I wanted you to join my pack Vienna?""Because you want me to destroy all of your enemies."He gave me a small smile. "It is because I felt bad for you.""I don't need your pi

Gage might have looked like a famous football player, she looked like a professional ballerina. Honey blond hair tied in a bun, long limbs. She was also incredibly sweet. She was always making sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. She was one of the pack members that brought me my meals when I stayed in the room. She was complaining about how she hadn't had a goodnight sleep since she hit her second trimester. I didn't feel as bad for coating the gravy in sleep syrup after I heard that. I was just helping a girl out, I reasoned with myself. All night Cassar watched me. My every movement as if waiting for me to blow up about Soren not getting me out of here. Jokes on him.It didn't take long for everyone to excuse themselves from the diner table earlier than normal, and head to bed. Apparently, today had been an exhausting day. But mine was only getting started.I didn't bother saying goodnight to Cassar as we silently walked to my cell. Or goodbye, which was more fitting

Without a sound I walked up the stairs, all the way to the top floor. To the apartment that held a sleeping Alpha.I didn't bother knocking.Silently, I stalked to the bedroom. The door didn't creek as I slowly opened it. Cassar was sprawled on his back, his blankets barely covering him.I glared at him as I walked to the bed. His dark hair was stuck to his face, his mouth slightly opened as he snored. His black shorts the only thing covering him. Before I could get beside him, his eyes snapped open. Instantly he was on his feet in front of me.His eyes were confused and drowsy when he saw who had sneaked into his room. "Vienna?"He was about to say more, but I didn't let him. Before he could fully comprehend what was happening I shoved him. Hard. His body slammed against the wall.I put my hands around his neck. His eyes widened slightly when they met mine. A bone-chilling growl ripped from his throat, my own low vicious growl challenging his.He forced my hands off his neck, grabbin

My head hit the wall with a crack, but just before I crumbled to the ground, I felt the tingling arms wrap around me.My eye's slightly blurring, I struggled to get out of Cassar's grip. He just tightened his hold around me like a snake with their prey. His hands holding my arms in place. His legs separating mine.We stood like that until my struggling eased. Both of us breathing heavily. My wrath slowly evaporating. My teeth and claws turning human again. My eyes flashing back to normal blue."Are you calm?" He asked slowly, eyeing me up and down."Yes," I said through a locked jaw."Are you sure?" He doubted."Yes.""Last time you said you were calm, you were not calm.""Just let me go you moronic baboon."Slowly his arms lessened their grip on me. When I didn't make another move to hit him he took a step away from me.We all stood in a giant sitting room, that had flat black leather couches along the outside. Most of the furniture destroyed.I looked at the four people that watched

I sauntered down the hallway heading to Cassar's office. My limp from the previous night, barely noticeable. The same two guards still watching the door. When they heard me coming, their backs stiffened and they stood up straighter. They each moved a step closer to the door.I stood in front of the identical males, sizing them both up. They looked like the perfect guard dogs. More Doberman, then wolf. The one kept looking straight ignoring me, while the other quickly took in my bruised face, flinched, then looked away.It had only been a couple of hours since my fight with the Alpha. Thanks to my shifter healing, the damage wasn't too noticeable.Though Cassar had never actually hit me, which had only angered me more, tumbling down stairs and bashing into furniture still did a number on me.We were both black and blue with scratches all over our faces. Nothing worth scaring, especially since the wolfs-bane on my ring had worn off. Why they called it wolfs-bane when it affected every k

I couldn't help but glance at the wall full of weapons, guessing which one Harlen would use to skin the annoying wolves alive with.Harlen saw my glance, smirking. She had probably already made that decision. Before I could respond, the same sneering voice from the last time spoke up from one of the couches."Why are you here?" He hissed. This time I did turn to see who the voice belonged to.He looked the same as he sounded. He was tall, all skin and bone. Everything about him looked scrawny and sharp. His face especially. He reminded me of a sneering weasel. He had small beady eyes, a small pointy nose, a small sharp chin. Graying thin hair at the top of his head. He looked a bit like my own father. Acted like him too."I came for the meeting," I told him with an innocent smile on my face."This meeting does not concern you." He seethed."Considering this meeting is about her. I would have to say it concerns her, Alf." Harlen scowled at him from the chair in front of Cassar's desk.

Before his sentence was even out of his mouth, Cassar was on him.Cassar shoved Alfred up against the bookcase, holding him by the neck. Alf squirmed in fear, his feet not even touching the ground. In a terrifyingly calm voice that held utter rage behind it, Cassar whispered. "I am tired of you disrespecting my mate, and your future Luna. Do it again, and you will find yourself hanging in the gallows by your organs. And that is a promise."With one more shove, Cassar let go of the male. Alf dropped to his knees, trying to make up for all the lost breaths Cassar had taken from him.Cassar just strode back to his chair like nothing had happened. Like that was normal.A thick silence hung in the air. When he was sitting comfortably, he looked directly in the eyes of every wolf in the room. Anger simmering behind his lids.A few of the pack members who wanted to feed me to the lions sat back nervously. Harlen sat down in her own chair smiling smugly. Nora shook her head at the whimpering

"I thought finding out you were a fox meant no more secrets." Cassar frowned at me.I belted out a laugh. When I calmed down enough to speak I looked back at him. I wiped a fake tear from my eye. "Oh honey, you know nothing."He frowned but didn't comment, not pressing me for more details. Which I appreciated. He brought the conversation back to our initial topic. "Now some of the council are pissed that you are a fox.""Why tell them at all?"Cassar walked to the window, contemplating. "The sooner they know, the sooner they will get over it.""Wow, your pack really has a thing against foxes." I mused. "It's not surprising, but still.""Only some," Cassar explained. "A lot of them are old school. They still believe that wolves are the dominant creature."The way Cassar said it, it was clear that he did not agree. That he was almost embarrassed by them."Your pack is known for that opinion," I remarked. A few years ago they some members of the Viribus Pack had murdered hundreds of crea

She shook her head. "It all depends on the Alpha. Cassar gives us the option of what we want to call him. Some call him Alpha, others call him Cassar. It's our decision.""Well," I started. "in that case I think I'll call him-""We have the option between Alpha and Cassar. That's it." She clarified, following me deeper into the forest."So I shouldn't call him scum of the earth bacteria? Or Barbarous Bastard? Heartless jerk tard? An inbred Mutt?""I dare you to try and see what happens."I gave her a mischievous grin. "Oh I will."She rolled her eyes. "I bet he'll love the inbred comment.""You think so?" My eyes filled with hope. "It really describes his roots. Where he comes from. His heritage, you know?"She realised I had started walking again. "I know what you're doing. If you keep going I will have to alert Cassar.""Then I'll be able to try my new nicknames on him." I beamed.Harlen wasn't impressed. Then I smelt him. The musky dirt smell became stronger and stronger. I was clo

I also ignored the fact that he was buck naked. Some shifters preferred to stay in their animal form full time. I heard he was one of them. For him clothing would be nothing but a pain.I had met many shifters who preferred no clothes. At this point, I was used to it. A body was just a body. It made no difference to me if they were wearing a snowsuit or birthday suit. I just kept my eyes trained on his.He stood five steps away from me. He crossed his arms over his chest. Still glaring at me for disturbing his slumber, or meal. Who knew, maybe I was the meal."I have a deal with the Alpha that his pack members would not bother me." The giant bear seethed. His voice gruff, as if he hadn't used it in a long time. "How did you get here?""Well it's a good thing I'm not a pack member then.""You walk on his land. You keep with his warrior." He nodded towards a pissed off Harlen through the trees, growling at the both of us. Close enough for her to see us, but far enough that she couldn't
