CHAPTER SEVENTY-ONE
It was probably unhealthy but I was back at work. My bruises had healed but my mental health was still recovering.I was working like never before. I didn’t pick calls from Charlie either. I needed space from the family. If she thought an apology could somehow fix that, she was dead wrong. People whispered behind my back as I went through the day. Only Dara had the guts to ask what happened.“I just fell sick for a couple of days. Nothing too serious.” I faked a smile. My voice wasn’t back a hundred percent but I was clear enough for people who came close to me.She smiled sadly and got back to work but not before telling me to delegate some of my work to her if I was feeling tired. I nodded in response and continued what I was doing.I was far behind on my work on my personal project because of the recent happenings around me. Well, no more. I wasn’t going to let anyone or anything distract me, not even gossip.***“I heard she and boss are seeing eachother.”“Really? Eww! She’s so s

CHAPTER SEVENTY-TWO
I ran to my apartment and met the door ajar. The place was trashed in its entirety.“What the f*ck!” The chairs were torn apart and feathers and foam were strewn across in no particular order. I ran to my room to see if it was in similar fashion. Everywhere was disorganised. I covered my nose to avoid the horrible stench wafting in.“What the f*ck is this?” There was blood everywhere. The words man stealer were painted in red over my bathroom mirror. The whole place was in disarray. It looked more horrible than the picture the unknown sender had forwarded to me. I picked up my phone to call the one person I would tell on a whim. Pissed at me or not, he needed to know. A movement caught the corner of my eye, sending my heart dipping to my stomach. Before I could turn to find out what or who it was, I felt a sharp pain at the back of my head.I fell to the floor with a loud thud, my head hitting the counter top in the process. Warmth trickled through my hair down to my neck and my vision

CHAPTER SEVENTY-THREE
Kol’s POV“So… Did you get everything you needed?” If Josh thought I was going to dignify that with an answer, he was senile.“Come on man. We got who we were looking for, didn’t we?” No, we didn’t. Not entirely. The manager had interrupted us before the woman could say anything. We didn’t need her anymore. Everything we needed was right with me and though it’d take longer to figure it out, we’d figure it out together. Me and this nincompoop.“The end justifies the means, no?”“Certainly does not.” Dimitri said nothing as we drove back to the company. Silent as ever.“So, mind telling what the f*ck happened between the both of you?” I thought I saw Dimitri look back and then front swiftly with the speed of a cheetah but maybe I was wrong.“Thought you said she told you.” If I didn’t think Josh knew he couldn’t physically win a fight with me, because I’d beat his a*s to pluto and back, blindfolded, he would have punched me with the look on his face.“Your side of the story.”“Look, I k

CHAPTER SEVENTY-FOUR
Tori’s POVI squeezed my eyes tight as the ringing in my head increased. I groaned in pain. My head hurt like a b*tch. I raised my hands to feel the back of my head where I knew my hair was matted and a lump was forming but my hands wouldn’t budge.I opened my eyes but there was almost no difference from when my eyes were shut. Everywhere was dark. Black. Black was the appropriate word. Was it day? Was it night? I couldn’t tell. How long had I passed out?I clenched my fists and pulled my hands but only a metal clang echoed in what I now poorly saw as a large empty and abandoned building. I was bound. Silver glinted in the dark. Were those metal rods?I tried to pull myself up but my feet wouldn’t budge either. Bound by hands and feet. I came up short on who could have done this. I hadn’t figured it out in months, thinking I could figure it right now was just fool’s hope. I had nothing else to do than to wait for an opportunity, an opening, something. What kind of sadistic human tied u

CHAPTER SEVENTY-FIVE
Kol’s POVWe had our stalker, now we had to find her. She was going to regret ever laying hands on what was mine. She had managed to make her face so forgettable and unsuspecting that she never crossed my mind.“The police are on their way.” They’d better be. I wasn’t going to wait for them. I looked for our employee records. This wasn’t some other company. It was mine and I had the right to do whatever. I pulled up Dara Pears’ records.“Her address?” Josh sneered beside me. Josh was just as pissed as I was. She had been right under our noses all this while.“Got it.” I put in the location into our map and Josh drove us there.“I can’t believe that tiny, shy f*cker is a f*cking stalker and assaulter. Did you know she liked you?” Josh stared at me incredulously for a few seconds and looked back to the road.“No. Of course not. I mean, I knew she was weird around me but she was weird around everybody.” I shivered in disgust. I remembered the thousands of roses, how she stalked my house.

WARNING: VIOLENT SCENCESTori’s POVThe swelling around my head and jaw where I had been hit hurt like h*ll. My legs had turned numb and I was sure there was a purpling bruise around my ankles just like they were around my wrists. My vision kept going in and out of focus. I was already partially blind without my glasses, the dim lighting only worsened the situation.Dara had gone out again to receive some call and everytime she came back, her mood worsened. She became agitated. She’d given me two kicks in the ribs because I had breathed too loud, sending me sprawling on the floor. I was hurting everywhere but my survival was paramount. I wasn’t sure anyone was coming to save me so, I had to save myself, if there was even any chance at all that I was going to make it.I hurriedly slipped my house key from beneath my hips where I lay and prayed. It was rare that different keys worked for the same lock but the off chance that it could had me fumbling for the locks of my wrist. If my apart

CHAPTER SEVENTY-SEVEN
Kol’s POVThe sun had set and we had to use our phone torches to light our path.“We’ve tried almost every building here. Kol, I don’t think she’s here.” Josh panted hard behind me as he exited another of the many buildings around.“No. I’m not giving up. I know she’s here.”“Kol, I’m not sa…”“You can go sit in the car if you want. I’m not leaving here until I scour every inch of this place.” My tone turned hard.“F*ck you. You know I will never leave Tori if she’s actually here but we don’t know that and I wou…” Both of us paused in our search.“Did you hear that?” My chest constricted as the noise only increased. The screams were louder west of us and we ran towards the building almost tripping in our steps. The rubble was too much and dust coated the environment as we approached the entrance.I inhaled and coughed, the dust entering our lungs. The noise from inside gave us ample coverage to show up unannounced and also allowed us to go straight to where they were without delay.Th

CHAPTER SEVENTY-EIGHT
Kol’s POVCharlie had stood in the room with tears in her eyes just after her operation. Mr Rivers had left almost immediately after he donated the blood, barely sparing her bed a glance or two. I didn’t know whether to be angry or sad. The doctors had done the best they could.“The bullet barely missed her heart, severe trauma to the head, a couple of cracked ribs and pierced lungs. We’ve done all we can. It’d be a miracle if she wakes up at all. I wouldn’t want you to get your hopes up.” The doctor had patted down my shoulder, gave a little squeeze, feeling sorry for me and left me to stew in the atmosphere of trepidation and anxiety. We’d called in the best doctors, including my personal doctor who’d checked up on Tori before.Josh had gone back to the office so everything wouldn’t fall apart, because left to me, nothing else mattered. The world could burn for all I cared.“We’ll keep watching her for changes. Go home, get some sleep. It’s been four days Mr Drey.”I hadn’t gone for

CHAPTER SEVENTY-NINE
Tori was awake. I couldn’t believe my eyes. The doctors couldn’t either. They were all shocked at her miraculous recovery. She could barely speak or move much. She still needed weeks of rest and medical care but she was awake. It was all that mattered.I watched her sleep and wake up, drink water when she was parched, cleaned her myself and then watched her some more for long hours. My phone rang, disrupting my new position as the room hawk and mother hen according to Thea who was asleep in a very uncomfortable position by the way.“How’s she?” Josh had also rushed over, dropping every other thing when he had heard she was awake but returned back to work shortly after.“She’s asleep.” He sighed deeply and then continued to talk some more about work. We were doing fine, thanks to Josh. The short period when Tori was almost lifeless, there were moments of reflection where I realised that not a lot actually mattered to me in the grand scheme of things. The grand scheme of things being sp

FIVE WEEKS LATERTori’s POV.“I swear, I’ll kill him if he tries to bring a spoon near me to feed me.” I hissed through my teeth.Thea chuckled beside me as she got the bath ready for me. I’d come back from the hospital and Kol had been treating me like I was made of glass, carrying me everywhere, spoon-feeding me, tucking me in bed.I was tired and he was slowly getting on my nerves. I’d thrown a fit when he’d demanded that I let him feed me. My arms were f*cking fine. I was fine. I still needed bed rest but I could do a few activities without groaning so loudly.“It is so weird to see Kol like this. I think it’s best if you just let him baby you. We don’t know when he’d go back to cold - no emotions Kol.” She was right but it was getting overbearing.I rolled my eyes at her.“I am serious about killing him though. He won’t go beyond holding my hands though.”“What else do you want him to do? He’s scared he might break you.” Her eyes glinted mischievously at me. I scrunched up my nos
