Prologue

Brent Damien  Davis

“Wait for me! I'll just put sunblock,” I was sitting on my surfboard when I heard a voice of a girl from afar.

It was the anniversary of my father's company, the Davis' Construction Group and we had a team-building celebration at Ocean City in New Jersey. I used to attend different kinds of occasions because my Dad never missed bringing us along. That served as my training ground on how to deal with the people in business knowing that someday I will replace him in his position.

I never regretted coming to that place, the sea and the waves brought calmness to my soul. That time, I was just waiting for the bigger waves because I was out to surf.

I looked around and my attention was caught by a girl with wavy brunette hair. I think she was around 14 or 15 years old and she was kind of adorable.  She was smiling from ear to ear as she ran towards a group of young girls and boys. I think they were also the family members of our company employees.

When it was time to surf, I went to the water carrying my board. My dad taught me how to play with it since I was 10 years old. Honestly, I find the sport interesting and loved it that first time I was able to balance my weight on the water. Every summer we would go to the beach and spend the rest of our days enjoying the place.

I shouted when the big wave hit me but I was able to maintain my balance. Damn! that was good.  It felt like I'm alive. I indulged in riding my board until I felt my legs were numb and not able to pay attention to a big wave that was coming my way.  I drowned.

That next moment I was able to get back to my senses,  I heard a voice trying to wake me up. A CPR was given to me and luckily, I had thrown out the water that I drunk when the incident happened.

“Thank God, you’re awake,” I saw the girl with worry written on her face.

I flickered a few times and realized that she was the brunette girl who caught my attention back when I was sitting on my surfboard.  I was able to stare at her properly since her face was just an inch away from mine. She has that enchanting beauty, porcelain skin, and pouty lips. There's something special about her that my heart hammered fast as I looked into her captivating blue eyes.

”She's gorgeous” I muttered at the back of my mind not able to concentrate on what happened to me that time. I was hypnotized by a young girl who I don't even know her name.***

After 8 long years, I have never forgotten her. I always think about her. I felt something different for her. I'm haunted by her beauty and charms. Will I  be able to see her again? When and how?
