The Dawn of a New Life

Anna's POV

“I have questions…” I told him. “I need to know a lot of things but it feels like you aren't ready to give me a reasonable reply.”

“I will answer but it shouldn't be here or at this period…” Smith said slowly.

“I know,” I tried to express but Smith sounded inpatient. I didn't want to push him more than his limitations.

“It is time to write your statement!” I heard someone say. I raised up my head and saw that it was one of the security guards. I stood up and started to follow the guard but I couldn't go far as Smith held me back. He stood up and looked into eyes , making my heart flutter.

“Let's go together!” Smith smiled at me. I could feel butterflies in my stomach as he led me on. Both of us had only one thing to do. It was to write our statement and go back home to have a lengthy conversation.

___________

“You have been lying to me for a long time. I am sure I am not the only one. You disguise yourself in the presence of my friends and family. How long have you been doing this? You played with my heart!” I told him the moment we entered the living room together. This was after we finished in the restaurant.

“I would advise that you calm down for a second, okay…” Smith told me calmly. “It will be fine and you just need to believe that! I will explain everything about this but it's not going to be here and it's not going to be now.”

“But that's the same thing you said in the restaurant! I am burning questions and if you really want me not to doubt you, you will have to provide answers to those questions. You bought me a piece of jewelry for ten million dollars when I have been thinking that you're bankrupt. Come on, look at the house we are living in! It makes no sense,” I said energetically. This was too much for me to bottle in.

Smith stopped talking. I could tell that he was frustrated and this made me think about being careful. I would not like us to have a fight here because of a trivial issue. Of course, I knew it wasn't trivial at all. It was a very serious matter.

Smith kept mute and I would have to break the ice here. He stood still without blinking an eyelid.

“Okay, I am sorry for shouting at you but could you explain things to me. Put yourself in my shoes. How would you feel if I bought you a shoe of ten billion dollars and told you that I am also a billionaire?” I asked him spontaneously. This made Smith laugh.

“On a serious note, I would feel betrayed…” Smith said carefully. “It is not about being jealous or anything. It is more about the trust which I have invested in you. I would feel like you have been playing with my feelings!”

“And that is what I am going through!” I exclaimed. “Now, I hope you can see that I am not being like this for no reason?”

Smith sighed.

“I expected you to ask me one question which you haven't asked me. Oh no, it should be two questions. Think about it and tell me!” Smith said carefully. He went to the dining table and opened the fridge. I could see as he opened his mouth agape.

“Nothing is in the fridge!” I told him solemnly. “I can't imagine why a billionaire would live so frugally. It is a great bother for me and I would never be able to get it off my chest!”

“The questions!” Smith exclaimed without paying attention to all I said before. I didn't admire this trait but I let it pass.

“You have been postponing this for a while so I would ask this…” I said carefully. “When would you tell me and when would you tell me about this?”

“Now, that is what I want to hear!” Smith exclaimed excitedly. He left the fridge and got a cup of water instead. I went to join him at the dining table.

“Now, I need answers to those questions!” I told him basically. Smith drank his water and positioned himself to answer those questions.

“I will tell you all about this when we get to our new home. We would be moving today and about the specific time, how about at night after sex?” Smith asked slowly.

I was blown away. The way he simplified this made it look odd. I already had sex a number of times and I wasn't shy since I knew I had a great body. Even still, it was awkward for me.

“What makes you feel like I will dance to your tune tonight? I might never be in the mood for sex tonight!” I told him plainly.

Smith started to laugh. This was quite funny and I laughed as well even though I wasn't comfortable with the idea of having to move today. It was almost late in the evening and I considered this as too much stress.

“You will be in the mood, trust me!” Smith told me and winked at me. All I did was to shake my head at this.

“What gives you the idea? I know that having to move is not an easy task. Before I pack and do other things…” I was saying until I heard a loud honk right at our gate.

Smith smiled.

“You won't need to be stressed by doing the packing. I already have a team who would do that!” Smith smiled. I looked at him in shock now.

“Really?” I asked.

“Get your bag and let's go to our new house. My cover has been blown and here won't be any safe for me,” Smith said. I watched as he got his cardigan and wore it.

He carried my bag as we moved out together. Now, I heard my phone ring and I decided to check i

t.

It was my stepmother. As I saw this, my heart skipped a beat.
