Chapter 4

Aguilar:

I kept my eyes on the woman, my mate, for a moment, and I couldn’t help but frown.

“Bring the pack doctor to her.” I said, nodding at Ian, one of the servants of the harem.

“Yes, Alpha.” He said, holding her upright.

He lifted her in his arms and I watched as he took her back inside the room. Elena was quiet as she kept her eyes on the girls despite keeping her head low, and I knew that since they seemed to be new, she was making sure to maintain their order.

I nodded at Ezio and the two of us walked out of the harem toward the front door where I knew things were going to be changing. But I had to admit, I couldn’t help but find myself and my wolf, in awe at the sight of the woman. I didn’t know who she was or where she came from, the one thing that I could tell that she was human. A small little setback that I knew wouldn’t be coming in my favor.

“Are you okay, Alpha?” Ezio asked, and I raised an amused eyebrow at him.

“I doubt that a woman falling in my arms would be shaking me up, don’t you think, Ezio?” I asked, and he smirked. “I’ll go and see mother first, I never got a chance to do that yesterday. The two of us can proceed with the council meeting afterwards.”

I walked toward my mother’s suite, knowing that she was with my sister, Clarice, and my first of harem, Jade.

“Aguilar, you never passed by yesterday.” Mother said, and I smiled, taking her hand in mine. I kissed her knuckle, and she smiled as her eyes softened.

“Work piled up on me, Mother Luna,” I said, and she smiled.

“Formalities between the two of us, I see.” She put her hand on my cheek, and I leaned into her touch before turning to my sister who kept her head down.

“Alpha.” She said, respectfully.

“Hello, beautiful sister.” I said, putting a finger under her chin. “I trust that you are well.”

“I am.” She said, and I nodded. I looked at Jade and she smiled, keeping her head down before she nodded. Mother looked at my sister and Jade before taking my hand in hers, gently squeezing it.

“How about Clarice and Jade go out for some fresh air, leave me with my son?” Mom asked, well, mostly ordered, she was just being gentle about it. She looked at me and the two of us took a seat on the couch, and she kept her hand on mine, tapping it gently.

“You stood you ground yesterday, I am proud of you.” Mom said, and I smiled as I looked at her. “Your father would have been too…”

“His excellency, Alpha Aguilar Ivanov.” Marcel, one of the servants called. I nodded at him and he smiled before taking a step back, knowing to head back to the harem. Someone had to help Elena with the girls, especially since they were new within the pack and harem.

Everyone lowered their heads in respect, and I stood in what looked like a veranda over them. A lot was going to be changing, and I knew that most of what I was going to have to do wasn’t going to be things that they liked. Some would be in their favor, others, many others, wouldn’t. But I didn’t care, my aim was my people, and my people alone.

“Who knew, an exiled Alpha can be an Alpha of Alphas.” I heard one of the men, Mikhail Romanov, one of my father’s allies and the main reason that I was exiled a long time ago.

“At least I know for fact that I deserved it. I didn’t get it by inheritance, but by vote and blood, what did you get but a betrayal to your name?” I asked, and the man frowned. “I will not take long of your time. Each one of us has a pack to lead and their families to take care of, and for those who are human, people to guide.”

“I do not intend to harm those who are human, especially when under my care and mercy. On the contrary, I aim to be sure that you are treated fairly and just. Those who think of harming you are going to meet their fate.” I said, looking around at the Alphas. The humans were the ones in suffering, addressing them with this wouldn’t be making sense. “And I will call neither a friend, alley, or mutual. I will be sure that they pay the price for what is done to these people.”

“What about those that are enslaved within your palace walls?” One of the human advisors, Kamal, asked, and I smiled. The man was scared, I saw his fear in his eyes, but it was one that would be temporary. Respect was a need, but I didn’t intend for my followers to be scared of me.

“They are property of the harem and of my own. Those who are to be freed later would be based on our rules and customs. And neither one of them is from allying countries; you needn’t worry.” I said, and the man, though I could tell that he wanted to speak, chose to bite his tongue.

His eyes, like the others, met mine for a moment, and I nodded in assurance.

“You can all rest assured that your people are going to be treated with care and fairness. The women are to be educated, and trust me, after a while, it is their choice to stay; but then again, those who do side with our enemies pretending to be allies wouldn’t know.” I said, turning my attention to the others. “Now, for my first of decisions as Alpha of Alphas…”

End of Flashback.

“While I did not understand why you wish to give humans more rights, I believe that you might have a proper explanation?” She asked, and I chuckled.

“I have a plan in mind. I just need you to trust me.” I said, and she nodded.

“You know that I do, and you have all my support.” She said, keeping her hand on mine. “Daniel and Ella should be arriving soon, I would assume that you would want to spend the night with her?”

“I have work for the night, I will be calling her when it is suitable. And I will be seeing Daniel when he arrives.” I said, and she nodded, giving me a gentle smile. “They would need to rest after the long trip. I wouldn’t want to exhaust them too much.”

I kissed her knuckle before getting up from the couch, and mom smiled, knowing that I was to dismiss myself.

“I’ll see you in the morning, and do try to get some rest too.” I said, and she nodded. “It is going to be a long journey for us from here, and I am sure that we are all going to be having our part in our dynasty…”
