I pushed my hair over the shoulders, and followed the girls to the stairs. They were so loud, in addition to the noise going on. I tried not to frown at the incessant sounds coming on.

I turned to the steps, as I took a step, only for my feet to push backwards. I drew back in shock, and my hands groped the wall to get a form of balance. What was that?

I took another delicate step, only for my body to launch forward. It took all I could to get some control over myself, and stop me from falling the stairs. My body was suddenly weak, and I had the urge to call Chloe to ask for help.

Something deep inside of me growled and went through the walls of the house. ‘RUN!’ An inner voice informed me tersely. I couldn’t move. The music seemed to intensify. I didn’t have any idea about what was going on. This was getting too much.

“Maya? Are you still at the bottom of the stairs?” One of Chloe’s friends queried her.

I could barely see her, because I focused my energy on regaining my composure. I
