“Does she leave the house always?” Emily asked while they waited for the spaghetti to come to a boil.

She was glad that he didn’t get mad at her for almost setting the house on fire.

“Yes”, Richard replied bluntly, an indication that he wasn’t ready to talk about Barbara or anything that concerned her.

“Forgive me for asking. She owns the house and so, she can leave and return whenever she wants”, Emily added as she lifted the lid to take a peek at what was cooking.

“Can we talk about something else other than Barbara?” Richard asked with a look of displeasure in his voice.

“Definitely! I mean, there are siblings who are like cat and dog. But I’m certain that you both love each other despite the continuous fights. I would love you both to settle your differences and hang out more often as siblings. I mean, I don’t have a sister or a brother, and I’m certain that I miss that in my life”, Emily blabbed on but stopped when she observed that Richard didn’t utter a word.
