Chapter 49

Barbara drove into the house as she watched Richard, who was sitting together with Emily.

“I guess she doesn’t obey rules”, Barbara said silently and glared at Emily from the car, wishing that she could quickly go over and pounce on her.

She got out of the car and walked towards them, with Emily standing to her feet the moment she caught sight of Emily approaching them.

“Welcome, ma’am”, Emily greeted, with her head lowered to the floor.

Barbara ignored her and turned her gaze to Richard, who clearly was unhappy to see her.

“You should tell your maid the importance of obeying rules, specifically my rules!” She thundered and turned around to head back to the car.

“And yes! You wouldn’t want me to change my mind about attending the stupid banquet”, she said scornfully, after which she made her way to the car which would convey them to the event.

Emily was blank and sputtered words that weren’t audible.

“It’s okay”, Richard assured her with a smile, after which he turned around.

“Wait!”
