Chapter 26: What the Night Brings

Miranda’s P.O.V

Sasha continued to glare at Davien’s mother, who seemed unphased by her presence. She took a flute of champagne from a nearby waiter and took a huge sip from it. Once done, she handed it to one of the burly men escorting her. Everyone had pretty much gone back to what they were doing but kept one eye in our direction. I stood there, looking lost and like I’d rather be anywhere else but there. I was about to step away into the crowd when Davien’s hawk like gaze landed on me.

“Who might this bellezza be?” she asked, golden eyes flashing with curiosity. I nearly crumpled under her intense stare, that is, until Davien decided to step in to rescue me.

“She’s my personal assistant, Miranda. Miranda, this is my mother, Giorgia,” he said, and once again placed his hand on the small of my back.
