At TheeStorm organization, Liam Storm paced in his office in frustration as he looked at the man before him.
"Dad I already told you, we are trying our best," Liam tried to convince his father who was hell bent on making his life unbearable.
"We both know you'll not take over the company if you can't produce an heir, you have a quality wife, what else do you want?" Daniel Storm urged relentlessly.
Liam ran his hand through his hair as he felt trapped in his own body. It was yet another negative outcome from the hospital. Ever since the accident nothing had ever been the same, although Isabelle was okay, he on the other hand could not say the same.
"We're trying dad but it's just not working, we are only left with one last chance and if that doesn't work you can't blame me," Liam said, his mind tired of having to take his fiance for IVF multiple times only to get negative results after hospital tests.
"Don't worry son, I have a feeling this last one will take," Daniel Storm said comforting his son.
As he watched his father's back disappear he closed his eyes feeling his head relax but a familiar pair of pale green eyes kept filling his thoughts. The look of pain that was in those eyes disturbing his soul.
He didn't get to take a good look at her but her eyes reminded her of someone he loved dearly. How he wished he could have a chance to look at them again and finally put a face to the mesmerizing eyes. He shook his head in confusion not sure why he felt the urge to protect her when Isabelle shouted at her. Her fragile look making him overprotective of her.
"What's making you smile that broadly after your father just left the office?" Justus asked entering the room with two cups of coffee in his hands.
"Leave me alone Justus, should I cry?" Liam fired back laughing. Justus was the only person who understood how he felt most of the time.
"Tell me, did Isabelle finally turn into a dutiful wife and cook for you? Or what's the smile for?" Justus teased chuckling as he settled in the seat opposite him.
"No man, it's just that at the hospital I locked eyes with..." Liam explained his mind drifting off to the moment.
"Oh it seems my boy has finally gotten rid of the witch's claws. Who's this beautiful damsel? Is she rich? A model like your fiance?" Justus fired away the questions playfully.
Liam tapped his finger on his chin as if in deep thought. "Well I didn't exactly get to see her well, as Isabelle..." Liam paused his explanation as he noticed the mockery look on his best friend's face.
"What?" Liam asked, furrowing his brows.
"I wanted to hear what that witch did to her, I always tell you she's not fit to even have your eyes on her," Justus yet again opposed the idea of Liam dating Isabelle.
"There you go again,Jus,why do you hate her so much though?" Liam asked, collecting some of the documents on the desk.
"You'll see her true colors one day Liam, and I'll be here to tell you I told you so," Justus replied, his voice full of certainty.
Liam shook his head, if it wasn't for Isabelle he couldn't have been able to get through the grief he was in. The accident had taken something so dear to him but she supported him all through. He quickly repressed the painful memories as he knew where his commitment lay.
Just then his phone buzzed with a message only for him to find that Isabelle canceled their hospital appointment again. She said she wanted to carry his baby but she kept bailing and postponing. Liam clenched his fists angrily trying to calm himself down.
Meanwhile Selene looked out the window caressing her stomach as a tear rolled out of her eye. It's been two weeks since she lost her baby but the pain was still imprinted in her mind and heart.
"Ooh, is our little baby girl hurt? That stupid man surely doesn't deserve a chance with my all mighty sister," Stella, her stepsister, said with a hint of enthusiasm in her voice.
"We both know you don't mean it Stella, drop it," Kyla said ignoring her spiteful comment.
"Oh did I offend you in any way, her highness?" She continued mockingly. Kyla scoffed, turning to her angrily.
"If it were not that I'm leaving for my check up I would have dealt with that dirty mouth of yours!" Kyla threatened looking straight in her pale green eyes. That's all they had similar otherwise everything else was like heaven and earth.
Stella cowered back at the angry tone pouting as she exited the room. Kyla clenched her fists cussing inwardly as that would get her reprimanded once her stepsister ran to tell her mother.
At the hospital, the doctor entered with her face covered with weariness.
"You're Miss Vane? ... " she asked but her phone rang before she could receive a reply.
She seemed to be having an intense conversation as her face turned pale as the call ended.
"Sorry about that, I just have so much going on right now, let's begin, shall we?" She asked, chuckling as she realized just how much she had shared.
Kyla looked at her pitifully as she could almost relate what it was like going through a hard time.
The checkup went quite well as the doctor removed her gloves smiling at her.
"Everything is fine, Miss, all the best," she said, answering her already buzzing phone again.
Selene found it strange that she didn't meet her usual doctor and she didn't recall her canceling their appointment.
As Kyla got out of the car she couldn't believe her eyes when she saw Blake's car in the parking lot. This man was really shameless that he had the guts to even come to her parents house?
Storming into the living room she locked eyes with Blake who was laughing with her father.
"Darling, your husband came to see you," Victor Anders, her father, called out to her his voice full of excitement.
Kyla couldn't hide her disgust on seeing the very man who caused her miscarriage. And to think he was sitting at her parents' house laughing his stomach out. She felt raw anger shoot through her.
"What are you doing here Blake?" Kyla demanded her temper spiking.
Blake laughed nervously, "I'm here to get you back, I can't allow you to have our baby out of wedlock." Blake cleared his throat after saying that. He knew that Victor would definitely side with him on that, feeling glad that Kyla had said nothing about what happened.
"You must be out of your mind Blake! Get out of my house right now!" Kyla ordered her eyes burning with rage.
"No Kyla,I'm not going without you," Blake insisted, hell bent on taking her back.
He wanted that baby for his lover as she suffered a miscarriage and they found out she couldn't bear children. He had to have his baby from this woman whether she liked it or not.
"Kyla, first of all this is my house and second you're going back with your husband right now and don't even think of going against me, your sister told me about your shameless behavior, you're lucky you have a gentleman for a husband," Victor's voice resonated in the room.
Kyla felt her ears ringing from the poisonous words she heard from her father. It had been the same again since he remarried, his wife hated her. But one thing she wouldn't do was going back with Blake. For what? Or as what?
"I'm not going anywhere, if you like, throw me out but I'll not go with Blake!" Kyla said her voice filled with a sense of finality.
Unwilling to believe that her father would sell her out again to this heartless man.
"Okay, you made your bed Kyla, you might as well lay in it!" Victor scoffed at how spoiled Kyla was.
If Stella hadn't told him of her shameless acts then he would have never believed that his once sweet innocent baby girl turned into this.
Stella held onto her mother in the corner smiling at the whole scene. Stella threw Kyla an evil victorious grin which made Kyla's heart break into pieces.
"Dad, what are you even saying?" Kyla asked, intending to plead for herself. If only she could sum up the courage to tell them that the baby was gone.
"Get out of my house, you're not going to stay here any longer!" Victor bellowed out in anger making Kyla's eyes grow wide in shock.
Blake smirked victoriously knowing that she was left with no choice but to tuck her tail between her legs and go with him willingly.
Lost and desperate was what Kyla felt as she walked by the roadside, not sure what her destination would be. She felt like an outcast, her family rejected and threw her out, as her ex-husband did. Her mind swirling and filling her head with questions which no one could answer. She had nowhere to go at the late hour, the only door she could knock was her aunt's place. Kyla felt her heart wring in pain as she thought of all she had been through. No one in her life appeared to care whether she lived or died. A car screening by the road, almost running her over, made her heart skip a beat.Blake got off, looking at her in disgust, “so you would rather walk around like a whore than go back with me?” He accused, grabbing her hand roughly.Kyla felt her inside shake at the murderous look on her ex-husband's face. “Let go of me, Blake, or I'll…” “Or you'll what, Kyla? Scream for help? While you're dressed like that, do you think anyone would bother to help you?” Blake criticized looking a
Embarrassed was the word Kyla could use at that exact moment. She didn't know how to explain being found in bed almost naked with an engaged man right beside her.“Who is this babe?” The woman shrieked pointing her fingers at her with a murderous look wearing her face.Liam cleared his throat confused at how he would explain the situation. It was like the woman with the pale green eyes kept crossing paths with him.“It's not what you think sweetheart,” Liam stated but was stopped midway as a slap landed on the weak woman on the bed. Isabelle had gone on top of her literally pulling her hair out.Liam quickly pulled his violent fiancée who kept kicking in the air trying to get a hold of Kyla. “Isabelle, get yourself together! What's the meaning of this?” Liam asked, holding her midair.Isabelle huffed angrily looking at Kyla as if she were some poisonous venom. “Did you think sleeping with my man makes you special!” She shrieked trying to get out of his hold and attack Kyla again.Ky
Liam Storm couldn't help but feel puzzled at the strange woman's behavior. She ran out of the house after collecting her clothes, without any word of argument to defend herself. She was so different from her, he closed his eyes remembering how his long gone girlfriend was, she was never a calm person, she was more of Isabelle's type. If only the terrible accident hadn't taken her away from him, maybe they would be married, the thought alone made his heart sting. He shook his head, pushing the painful thoughts behind as he focused on the new intriguing woman that seemed to have slowly sneaked into his mind. How he wished she could have access to his life too and be a part of it. Liam smiled as he thought of how composed she looked as she apologized, her calmness or whatever it was piqued his interest in her. His phone rang, pulling him out of his thoughts as he sighed seeing the doctor name on the caller ID. “Hello, doctor? Are there any changes in my results?” Liam asked, a hint of
Liam Storm gulped yet another vodka shot down his throat as he tried to make sense of his earlier conversation with the doctor. He thought he felt eyes boring holes into him from a distance for almost the whole night. Liam didn't feel in the mood to entertain any woman, as he kept turning them away. What he had lost was more than he could bear to think of. He kept condemning himself. Maybe this was his punishment for killing his pregnant girlfriend? He felt his heart wrong in pain at the memory.Meanwhile, Kyla's gaze returned to the particular man who, as if he had sensed her gawking at him, he had lifted his head. Their eyes locked, each one of them cursing inwardly, as no words were needed to know they had met more than once before. The familiar set of eyes that had been tormenting her all night long drew her in their warmth. Her breath hitched as he raised his glass at her, making her silently pray that Amber would be back soon. She turned her head, scanning for any sign of her f
Frustration and fatigue ran through her whole body as she received yet another job rejection application. Kyla huffed, trying to relax at the foul mood she woke up to. She didn't think it would be that difficult to secure a job in New York City, considering her qualifications and experience. It seemed that she secured her first job successfully because of having Blake with her. The thought alone rubbed salt in her wounds. It's been two weeks of trying to get a job, but all her efforts had proven futile. Her apartment looked nearly full, thanks to Amber, who seemed to have suddenly turned into a rich girl and insisted on supporting her. Two weeks since she set her eyes on him… “Fantasizing again, I see,” Amber's excited voice came, pulling her out of her thoughts.“I'm not fantasizing about anything,” Kyla denied, quickly shoving a pillow at her.“Mmm is that so, so you want to say you disappeared that night at the club and came back in the morning glowing and blushing for nothing,”
Liam Storm felt his anger dissipate at his sister's presence in the hospital. She looked equally shocked as he was as she moved her mouth with no words coming out. “Are you not feeling well?” Liam asked, turning her around as he inspected her for any wounds.Amber chuckled at her brother's silliness. “Li, I'm alright, I just brought in a friend who fell ill suddenly, do you remember the friend I told you about?” Amber said, smiling at him.Liam sighed in relief at her response, the last thing he wanted was for his little sister to be sick. Though they didn't see eye to eye with their father, Amber was too strong-willed and unruly, but they would always make up later. Ever since she flew back, she seemed to have a mind of her own. He chuckled inwardly as he remembered his father terming it as effects of taking her to study abroad.“Ooh, the one you wanted me to hire? I haven't had an opportunity to go through the details, but I will, I promise,” Liam responded as he realized he had
It had been a week since he left the hospital, but there still wasn't any news on the mysterious woman. Liam clenched his fists feeling angry, he had to take things into his hands. Just as he picked his phone, an incoming call came in from his sister, making him mentally facepalm himself for forgetting yet again about her friend. He had been away for a business trip and hadn't had time to check the details through.“Siz, what's up?” He greeted cockily as he braced himself for the havoc that Amber would release on him.“Li, I heard you're back, my friend's coming in today, I hope you're ready to interview her?” Amber chirped through the phone excitedly.Liam smiled at her jovial mood. “One day you'll kill your brother, you won't even let me breathe New York air in peace? Now I'm curious about this friend,” Liam teased as he opened the drawer, pulling out the folder.“Are you saying you never checked it!” And there was the real Amber, she had nothing to hide when it came to her emotion
Liam closed his eyes, trying to fight his treacherous heart that wanted him to embrace her into his arms.“I see you're trying every way to pave your way back into my life, Kyla?” Liam asked his accusing words full of scorn.Kyla knitted her brows, not recalling any disagreement they might have had. They were both grown-ups and had a one-time thing, why was he acting so childish and rude?“I don't even know what I'm doing here," Kyla said, turning around to get out of the room.“Don't leave so soon, Kyla Leeds,” he said, addressing her with her ex-husband's surname, making her feel bile rise to her throat.“Surprised, I thought the name seemed familiar, so I did a background check on you. Imagine my shock when I found out how you cheated on your husband, seduced your boss and other despicable things,” Liam accused, finally speaking it out. When he first saw her picture, he couldn't believe it. He couldn't blame his sister's nativity for failing to see her for what she really was.“W
