Illusion

**Emily’s POV**

“What are you doing Mary?!” I whispered, trying to yank my hand away from her.

“I am trying to show you how my tattoo works!” She whispered back.

I let out a deep breath, glaring at her. But, I relaxed. Not entirely relaxed, I wanted to see how the tattoo works as well.

I watched her in wonderment as the subtle glow began to dim fast until it was no longer there.

Like it never even happened.

I turned to her. “It glows, I have seen that. But, I have never seen a werewolf possess such powers, you aren’t a werewolf right?”

Mary's face held so much amusement and I was tempted to ask her what was funny.

“It’s not an ability, it is just a way used to identify members of my Clan. And no, I am not a werewolf.” She said.

“Then what are you?” I asked, staring intently at her.

My brows furrowed and I glimpsed a twinkle in her eyes.

“I am your guardian, Emily.” She replied, her eyes darting around the field perhaps to see if anyone was listening in on our conversation.
