**Alexander’s POV**I couldn’t sleep, couldn’t work and couldn’t even bring myself to do anything else aside from thinking about Emily and how she had been avoiding me ever since. The way she had looked at me earlier had made my heart throb painfully in my chest as I could make out obvious dislike in her clear eyes.I knew she was disappointed in me, even hated me now and all but I had to explain why I had done what I did to her. I couldn’t live with this; I couldn’t live with the fact that she hated me and no longer wanted to have anything to do with me.I slowly pranced around the confines of my office whilst kicking at everything in my way; I was restless and so was Ajax, my wolf who howled nonstop in my mind.I wanted to shift too, to run into the wolf, and to probably go hunting as that was the only thing I could think of to keep Ajax busy before he made me run mad.I was still so lost in thoughts when I suddenly heard a shuffling sound in the distance which snapped me out of my
**Alexander’s POV**I could feel myself getting lightheaded from fear, and no matter how hard I tried to shake off the feeling that something bad was about to happen to Emily, I couldn’t.My heart pounded in my chest as I hastily dashed out of the house, in the direction of the river as I went in search of that thing that screamed in a voice that was so much like that of Emily. It was extremely dark out and there were no traces of life; not even that of animals. I squinted into the dark, cursing at the moon for not providing the earth with enough light this night and at the same time, remembering how stupid I was for coming out here alone without informing any of my security personnel.“EMILY!” I yelled into the darkness over and over again but no reply came forth. It almost felt like I had imagined the scream I heard and that I was just being paranoid over little things, but the fact that she wasn’t in her room by this time of the night stood as a gentle reminder, it frightened me.
**Emily’s POV**I stood rooted to the floor, and in shock. I couldn’t quite fathom why Alpha Alexander was acting the way he did or why he was suddenly behaving like he had seen a ghost.Another thing that drew my concern was the fact that he was refusing to leave, even after he had successfully escorted me to my room. He looked like he didn’t want to leave me alone, and in a way I didn’t want to be left on my own either.I took in his overall drenched appearance quizzically and when he still wouldn’t say a word about what was happening, I went on to ask, “Why are you wet?”He suddenly snapped his bowed head up to look at me with an expression I hadn’t seen on him before, but then looked down at his wet clothes before shrugging.“I went into the River. I thought you were in it.” He replied slowly, his voice came out as hushed whispers as if he was quite afraid of waking the people around the house up.I was shocked at his utterance and also confused as to why he would think that I we
**Emily’s POV**Several weary thoughts scattered and rearranged severally in my head that I couldn’t even lay my fingers on; there were some that I didn’t even know what they were but just stayed in my head, occupying space..My body and head ached painfully, making droplets of tears leak out of my eyes on their own accord. I didn’t feel too great either as my stomach hurt too; but what bugged me the most was the restlessness I felt in my heart.I felt like the was something missing, a huge chunk of myself missing that I had to get back; I also felt like there were certain things I ought to know, some very important information that I needed but just cannot find the right person to help me with it.I had just woken up from a sleep plagued with nightmares, and I couldn’t help but think that it could be the reason I was in such a very bad and restless mood.I desperately needed answers; answers to why I had the weirdest of dreams every night but still cannot remember a thing from my pas
**Alexander’s POV**The fierce banter going on between Emily and Rosie had me stopping in my tracks just before I was about to walk into my office.I wondered what they were both doing in my office by this time of the day but was more bothered by the fact that Emily had been made to cross paths with Rosie again in my office, seeing as she had been a major issue between us for a while now. My heart skipped a beat at the prospect of seeing Emily again after a few weeks but at the same time, I wondered why Rosie just had to be in my office at a time like this. She was the last person I wanted to see right now, and I pondered about what might’ve brought her here today when we had no business to discuss.I quickly straightened my tuxedo, and was about to walk up to them when Rosie uttered a statement that had me freezing all over;“Of course I will, especially now that I am a few weeks pregnant and he’s responsible.” She said sharply. My breath immediately hitched at her utterance and I c
**Emily’s POV**A loud banging sound from a distance tore me out of the darkness called sleep, and when I opened my eyes, I was shocked to discover that my recently renovated room had once again been brought down to nothing but black ash.Nothing stood this time around, not even the door leading to the corridor. I gasped at the havoc I had wrecked and wondered when I had done it because I could not remember doing something like this.No matter how much I tried, I couldn’t seem to pinpoint when and how I had burnt down my room. At least I knew I screamed a lot before it happened but this time I couldn’t remember a thing. The vanity mirror which had survived it the first time caught my attention; but this time instead of standing royally like it used to, it now laid on the floor in a pile of molten gold which had hardened again to form nothing worthwhile, but gold all the same. The smell of burnt ruins filled my nostrils as I tried to get up and I began coughing violently as it almost s
**Emily’s POV**The initial shock about the relationship between Alexander and Rosie had worn off but even after hours of being told, I still couldn’t shake out the thoughts from my head.Chad had gone for his pack duties and even Mary who was around tried all she could to shake me out of the daze I had found myself in but I just couldn’t.The thought of Alexander being so much in love with Rosie in the past filled me with so much envy and dread. I dreaded the idea of those feelings being ignited and I was also jealous of what they must’ve shared. No wonder the lady held herself in such high regards. It’s because of the fact that she had known Alexander for quite a long time, and according to Chad, they’d known each other since high school.I immediately felt jealous about that fact, and jealous of her too but I immediately shook it off because it didn’t really matter anymore. She had already won by being pregnant for Alexander and regardless of what Beta Chad or any other person thin
Emily’s POV My head ached so much that I could literally feel it try to fall off my neck. It was so bad that I could feel tears slowly leak out of my eyes. I felt ill and feverish and could almost feel myself coming down with a fever. Another problem I encountered was the fact that whenever I tried to eat something, I threw it up but at the same time I wanted to eat everything in my way. I felt dizzy too and it wasn’t such a nice sensation. I didn’t know what I was coming down with but at the same time I knew it wasn’t something good. I thought about my father as well and about the weird dreams I have been having about him for a while now. I was conflicted, and sick, and tired and also worried. I wanted all of these challenges I was encountering to come to an end. I needed a way out of this mess. Alexander needed to know what was happening to me, needed to be told just so that a doctor could be alerted but I couldn’t bring myself to talk to him. After everything that has happe
