**Emily’s POV**

“You killed him!” I snarled at Dimitri, who stood quietly, watching me, with the knife he had used to stab Alexander in his hands.

I heard him mumble some indecipherable words that sounded almost like apologies, but then he turned away from me to walk towards Marcus, who was waiting for him with his arms wide open.

My rage flared uncontrollably when I watched him slowly walk into Alpha Marcus’s open arms and was engulfed in a hug.

The bastard had been working for the enemy…

“Your Alpha has been killed by one of my own, and so you have no other choice but to submit to me!” Alpha Marcus’s loud growl resounded across the open space, making a few fighting soldiers who had heard him stop to listen.

“I am taking his place as his mate, beta Marcus, and I say my people will not give in to you!” I snarled back.

“You forget that we are your real people, Em—”

“That was until you single-handedly murdered my parents and sold me into slavery!” I quickly interjected, cutting him off.
