Mary is back

**Alexander’s POV**

“No!” I wailed, feeling my heart break into a million tiny pieces in my chest. Time slowed before my eyes, making Emily’s fall to the ground look like it had happened in slow motion.

I stood on wobbly feet and stumbled my way to her body which lay in the dusty field, unmoving and surrounded by a pool of blood.

As soon as I got to where she was, I grasped her face in my hands and shook her violently in a bid to wake her up, but instead, she fell limply against me.

Her skin suddenly felt too cold against mine, and her face too pale; I couldn’t handle it. I let my tears fall freely. It wracked my entire body, and it felt like they were pouring out of the deepest part of my soul.

I felt a great deal of pain claw at my heart, making it bleed out. It suddenly felt like I couldn’t breathe, couldn’t live.

I stared down at her pale face and was beyond hurt when she stared back unblinkingly. In anguish, I raised my head to the sky and howled.
