2. A reason

The sound of car tires screeching as Erlangga stopped in front of the emergency room. Erlangga immediately called out to the male nurse who was ready beside the push-bed after he called after putting Andien in the back seat of his car.

"Hurry up and help me!"

Erlangga helped the nurse get Andien out and he continued to watch until Andien was placed on the bed and ready to go to the treatment room.

The nurse was already walking Andien in when Erlangga helped Keanu out of the car.

"What happened?"

Erlangga turned and saw Hanna Pratiwi walking over still wearing her white coat.

"Keanu found her unconscious on the beach. Hanna, how about you meet Keanu while I go in," Erlangga said to his fellow doctor.

"No problem," Hanna replied.

"Thank you. Ken, you see Aunt Hanna first, okay!"

"Okay."

After getting an answer from Keanu, Erlangga immediately walked quickly after the nurses who brought Andien.

After Erlangga was out of sight, Hanna got into the car and smiled to herself. Not only did Erlangga leave Keanu in the car alone, but he also didn't move his car from the front entrance of the emergency room.

"I don't know how he forgot about the car after you were with me," Hanna muttered to which Keanu responded with a chuckle.

"Even though papa likes to do whatever he wants, you still want to be my mama, right?" replied Keanu mischievously, making Hanna laugh.

Since Erlangga left his wife three years ago, Hanna has been the closest person to Erlangga and his son. Hanna's closeness was not only because she was Erlangga's colleague at the hospital but also because she was the sister-in-law who was entrusted with looking after her sister Ratih's husband and child.

"I want to go downstairs or find something fresh first. While we're still in the car," Hanna suggested to Keanu.

"Get off after we buy some ice cream," Keanu replied, making Hanna laugh again.

Hanna casually drove the car out of the hospital area and looked for an ice cream outlet as requested by Keanu.

"Do you like coming here, huh?" asked Keanu as soon as Hanna parked the car.

"I do. The ice here is really good and the place is spacious," Hanna replied as she reached out to help Keanu down.

Hanna was watching Keanu enjoying the ice cream when Hanna's cell phone rang.

"Papa's calling," Hanna told him without being asked.

"Hello," Hanna greeted.

"Hanna, I haven't had a chance to make a report to the police about the discovery of the woman. Can you do it after I give you a description of how she was when we found her?"

"Okay. You just tell me and I'll make the report. By the way we were at the ice cream stand if you didn't find Keanu and your car," Hanna replied while glancing at Keanu who was laughing amusedly.

"Oh. You guys came back immediately after eating ice cream, right?"

"Of course."

After hearing the answer from Hanna, Erlangga immediately gave the information that Hanna had to tell the police and Hanna immediately forwarded Erlangga's message after the man closed the conversation.

"We hope Dr. Erlangga will be willing to meet us to give a statement," said the police officer who received Hanna's report.

"Doctor Erlangga will definitely be willing after he finishes his work," Hanna replied calmly.

In the action room that was attached to the emergency room, Erlangga and his team had managed to remove the water in Andien's lungs. From the results of the examination Andien had not been unconscious for too long but all the wounds on her body made Erlangga frown.

"I'm not sure she can be confident with all the wounds on her face," Erlangga muttered.

Erlangga was still watching Andien's face when he saw the nurse walking towards the door with Andien's clothes.

"Nurse Erna, did you find any identification on the patient?" Erlangga asked.

"There are no identifying marks on these clothes, Doc," Erna replied hesitantly.

"What's wrong?" asked Erlangga as he caught the hesitation in Erna's voice.

"The clothes the patient is wearing are not ordinary clothes but a wedding dress. I think the patient is a bride who ran away from her wedding, Doc," Erna replied, making Erlangga laugh.

"You read too many novels. Maybe she had an accident while holding a wedding party on a cruise ship," Erlangga said in response to Erna's remark.

Erna laughed and continued her walk out of the room while Erlangga walked by Andien's side as he caught movement from a previously motionless body.

Erlangga watched Andien's eyelids move slowly before finally opening and Erlangga saw that the eyes were empty and not lifeless.

Erlangga waited for Andien to make a sound like most patients who had just woken up but Erlangga couldn't hear it because what happened was that Andien screamed and screamed, causing panic.

"Calm down, Miss. You're safe with us," Erlangga said, calming Andien who was moving wildly trying to remove the infusion needle that was still attached to her arm.

It took considerable time and energy to calm Andien down before Erlangga decided to give her a sedative.

"It looks like she was traumatized by the previous incident. Could it be that her husband has been the victim of a crime?" Erlangga asked softly.

Erlangga decided to have someone look after Andien and he gave orders to the nurse when Erlangga left the room because there were police who wanted to meet him.

"Good afternoon, Doctor Erlangga?" greeted one of the policemen to Erlangga.

"Good afternoon. I apologize for not being able to come to your office and report in person," Erlangga greeted kindly.

"We understand that as a doctor it is very important to save people's lives," said the policeman kindly.

"How about we talk in my office," Erlangga asked.

"Can I see the victim's condition first?" the policeman asked back.

"The patient is unconscious. I have instructed the nurse to inform me when the patient is conscious," Erlangga told the police, who agreed to receive an explanation from Erlangga in his office.

Nothing was covered up from the explanation Erlangga gave about Andien until the police asked who found her first.

"The first to discover was my 4-year-old son. I don't think you honorable gentlemen will ask for information from him," Erlangga said.

"We're just doing our job, Doctor," the police replied.

"True but he is not old enough. You can understand that," Erlangga replied firmly.

Erlangga was still explaining when a nurse told him that the patient had regained consciousness.

"Can we see him?" asked the policeman.

"Of course."

Erlangga took his guests to see Andien, who was now staring blankly at the nurse.

"Good afternoon. How are you?" Erlangga greeted Andien.

A faint shake of the head was seen as Andien looked at Erlangga and the two policemen who gasped.

"How did I get here?" Andien asked weakly.

"I found you unconscious on the beach. Do you know how you got stranded and unconscious?" asked Erlangga.

The shaking of heads was seen again as well as when the police asked Andien's identity. There was no answer that Andien could give until Andien again screamed hysterically, making Erlangga decide to bring the police out.

"Thank you for the report and information from the doctor. We will try to find out if there are any families who have lost their family members," the police said after they were out of the room.

The police had left and Erlangga returned to see Andien who was still screaming loudly. From the sound of her voice Erlangga could tell the scream that came out of Andien's mouth was not fear but deep anger.

"You guys go away. I'll handle it!" Erlangga ordered the nurse who was still looking after Andien.

"You know, anger doesn't always get you everything," Erlangga said after he was alone with Andien.
