Chapter One

Prologue

Emelia's Point of view.

Have you ever fallen in love? Have you ever loved someone that you would give up everything just to be with that special person? Well, I have.

I stood there looking at him as he stared at me from head to toe like I was absolute trash. I couldn't move because I know I deserved it, I mean I just told him everything about me as a li.

My name was Emelia and not Eleanor, I was an imposter. I was a woman who dated someone for months and planned a wedding knowing that was not my world.

"I am sorry." I apologetically said to the man before me as he laughed.

"You are sorry? Are you sure you are? You lead me on for a whole three months, dates, and things I have told you. And all you say is sorry?" He let out a soft partly suppressed laugh as he looked at me once again.

"Who are you?" He questioned me, the pain in his voice was so evident that I had hurt him and I didn't want to do that. It was better if he knew the truth now before we went ahead and married someone who wasn't the woman he wanted

"I wanted to tell you but I couldn't I am really..." I walked over to him explaining my actions as he shook his head.

"Everything that you told me? Was that even true?"  He questioned me as I swallowed hard.

"Some of it was true"  I added as he scoffed laughing softly, I enjoyed being with him but right now I had to be honest with him. There was no way I could continue living under my sister's shadow

"Leave!" He fumed, startling me in the end as I nodded my head. I walked over to the couch in his office grabbed my bag and made my walk of shame out of the giant office.

But how did I end up being called an imposter? Well, it was all my mother's fault and partly mine for letting her talk me into doing this.

Months Earlier

"Hey, mum" I excitedly said through the video call as I walked around with the phone in my hand around my three-roomed apartment.

"Hey, Mum? Emelia is that the way you greet your mother after not talking to her for four months?" She questioned as I broadly smiled at her, my mother is a drama queen.

"Four months mum? One might believe you" I replied grabbing myself a cup of coffee.

"Well, it feels like it. How have you been?" She inquired as I nodded my head,

"Great. Never been better"

"That's good, are you coming over for the holidays?" She questioned and I sighed heavily looking at her.

She has been inviting me for four years now and I don't want to.

"Mum, we spoke about this. I can't just..."

"I know Mia, I just miss you around and I wish that you could at least make an effort to visit your poor mother" she complained as I let out a soft giggle.

'Is something funny?"

"No mum, it's just that you are saying poor but let's be real, you didn't even know what poor means" I expressed as I rolled my eyes.

"Plus, Eleanor is there so you don't have to worry about me visiting. Just look at her then you have seen me" I concluded with a grin on my face.

"Really? There's nothing similar about you two. You are twins, yes but you are two different people" she noted as I bit my lower lip looking at her. I missed her so much but forcing me to do things her way is what I didn't want. I gave her twenty-two years of my life to control and I couldn't let her continue doing that.

"Fine. I will see if I can find a flight then we can talk" I made the effort to sound reassuring as she smiled broadly at me.

"Okay, great. I will try and look as well okay?" She offered and I gave her an affirmative nod.

"Great! I should get going, I have a meeting with a client" I quickly tried to get rid of her when I heard the door open, I was certain it was Ricardo coming in.

"Bye. Love you" she assured me.

"Me too" I replied cutting the phone as I placed it on the table.

"Hey, babe?" I greeted Ricardo who seemed not to be in the mood to talk to me.

"Hi." He replied monotone as he walked in going over to the couch.

At 3 pm he was already back home and looked exhausted. "How was work?" I inquired wanting to start a conversation with him.

'Well," he replied walking away from me.

"Is something wrong? Did something..." I tried to find out from him if something was happening.

"Yes, Emelia! Everything is fucking wrong!" He snapped at me making me flinch and take a step back while looking at him.

"You sit at home the entire day doing God knows what, when I get here do I ever find anything?? No! The only thing I find is that shitty pasta that you make," he retorted at me as I closed my eyes trying not to take offense at the fact that he hates the pasta that he told me to make for him.

"I am tired, Emelia. I am tired of having to take care of a grown woman who just brings sex to the table" He angrily shouted while pacing around the room.

"Is that what you think?" I questioned trying to make sure that I don't break down, just a few months ago I was the one taking care of all the bills in this apartment.

"I am tired, Emelia." He calmly said going to sit down on the couch as I blinked back the tears that threatened to fall> was he breaking up with me.  What was happening right now? Is this why lately he has been distant with me?
