3-Meet Ted

Alpha Ted’s POV

I smile at my text. My people are safe.

“Do we know if they are on the way?” Betty, my beta female, asks me again unable to sit.

“Bill just texted me; they are off Dragons of Thunder land. The house is burned. They left evidence of the girl being there. Bill says she is a lot further along than she thinks she is,” I read the message to Betty and my Luna, Lynn.

“Good,” Lynn is ready to almost deliver our son. Our first. “Bill will be home soon, Betty.”

“I’m just too early in my pregnancy. I’m so nervous,” Betty shakes her hands as she paces my office.

Lynn giggles. “Betty, what are you so afraid of?”

“The Dragons are the hunters who kill for fun. I am glad we were able to save an innocent but what was she doing with them to begin with?” Betty asks, still pacing.

“Solen said they went to high school with Sedit,” I explain. “Apparently, she was his girlfriend. Solen is unaware of werewolves and his sister must be too.”

“She didn’t know what or who they are,” Lynn explains.

“So, she is a stupid girl,” Betty rolls her eyes. “How do you live with a person like Sedit Zenith and not know he was simply born evil?”

I roll my eyes. “She is 19 and in love. We all know love blinds us to certain flaws in the ones we love. Plus, from what Yoel was saying, it’s completely possible she was threatened to stay.”

“I still can’t understand it,” Betty finally takes a deep breath and sits.

“I bet you can’t see anything wrong with Bill,” Lynn teases, her lips curly sightly in satisfaction.

My wolf and I both growl at what she is implying.

Betty is also staring daggers at Lynn.

“I get it, you know his flaws,” Betty sneers, rubbing her own belly.

Lynn smirks. “Oh, do I!”

Both, Betty and I, now growl, making Lynn laugh.

“I’m off to bed,” Lynn continues to laugh. “Ted, come to bed soon.”

She leaves and I look at Betty.

“Do you want me to stay up with you?” I ask, seeing her so upset.

“Won’t your mate be angry?” Betty asks, with a pout.

I sigh, “Betty, I want to make excuses for Lynn, you know that I love her.”

“You are bonded to her,” Betty stands-up. “There is a difference in love and the mate bond. You have to understand that.”

“Were you ever angry that you weren’t my mate?” I ask, looking at her.

“Honestly, no,” Betty chuckles. “I never wanted to be Luna. I didn’t want to be Beta either, but Bill. He wore me down with how amazing he is.”

“Lynn has her good points too. She was chosen as the Luna of our pack. We have to respect the goddess’s choices,” I remind her.

“Then, go to her,” Betty walks out. “The fates really screwed you.”

I hear her say as she walks away.

I check in with Bill one last time before going up to Lynn.

As I enter the room, I see Lynn holding her royal ball dress against her.

“If I can’t lose all the baby weight fast, I am not going to the Royal ball,” Lynn declares with a pout.

“You hurt Betty’s feelings,” I tell her, ignoring her vanity.

“Betty needs to lighten up. Besides, she was insulting a girl she doesn’t even know. The girl is, what, barely 19. How can she be expected to understand what a Hunter is?” Lynn puts the dress back up. “As soon as I can walk, I’m back in the gym. I want to kill in this dress. Make my Alpha the envy of every Alpha. Make every Luna look frumpy by comparison.”

“So, your friend’s feeling don’t matter to you?” I ask, still ignoring the dress issue.

Lynn huffs annoyed with me. “I told you I didn’t want to have a baby until after this ball. But you just had to knock me up.”

“Lynn, stop talking about yourself for two minutes. Betty’s mate is out there right now. He went on a dangerous mission. She needs support and compassion. You are the Luna. Looking good is not half as important as acting good,” I tell her.

I duck quickly as she throws a book at me.

“Ted, I chose you over Bill. Don’t ask me to show compassion to his mate. Especially, since you slept with her,” Lynn throws another book. “I hate her. I hate the fact her child is his. I hate the way he looks at her. The way he touches her. He was my fucking boyfriend. The only upside to you is my rank. If you were a warrior, or Omega, I would have rejected you.”

She throws a third book, making me duck again.

“Stop,” I tell her, not raising my voice. “We are fated. You didn't chose me.”

“Shut up, just shut up! I should have rejected you. But Bill wouldn’t reject Betty. She stole him. I hope the Dragons kill him,” Lynn is screaming.

I stand, unable to understand her at all.

She walks up to me and looks me dead in the eye.

“I hate you, Ted Sol. I hate everything about you. One day, I am going to overpower my wolf and reject you. I’ll leave your spawn at a fire station. Good luck finding him,” She slaps me hard and starts to the bathroom.

I watch her as she grips the back of a chair.

“Lynn?” I ask, seeing her knuckles go white.

“I think the baby is coming,” Lynn looks back at me with panic.
