Chapter One

"Good morning, Lola", the receptionist at the desk greeted Lola as she walked into the company that morning to resume work.

"Good morning, Stacey", Lola replied with a smile.

Lola arrived at work just like any other day. On her way to the top floor where she worked, she stopped by the canteen to make coffee for her boss. Her boss preferred hand made black coffee so Lola had to make it herself. Lola wasn't complaining; it was part of her job as the Ceo's personal assistant. When she was done with the coffee, she headed towards the elevator and headed straight for the top floor where the CEO's office is. She stopped by her desk which was in front of his office and dropped her bag along with the other things she had in her hands. Picking up the cup of coffee and the Ceo's schedule for the day, Lola walked towards the Ceo's office. Looking at the time it was exactly 9:15 am.

'Right on time', Lola thought to herself and knocked on the door.

"Come in", a deep voice answered from inside.

Lola took a deep breath, put on her professional smile and walked in.

The office was large and exquisitely decorated.

There were 3 leather sofas, adjacent to each other, a fur rug spread over the floor and on the far side of the office on the wall, was a large fireplace and a mantle dominating the center with bookshelves lining it on either side. There was a large 64 inch television in the office.

And at the end of the office right in front of the large glass window which overlooked a magnificent view of the city, sat a desk. A large walnut desk, which was rather imposing, with glass over the top like the early 1900s style.

Sitting behind the desk was Adriel Alvarez, the Ceo of A Globals and Lola's boss.

"Good morning, Mr. Alvarez", Lola greeted as she walked towards him.

Adriel looked up at her. Anyone who saw Adriel would agree that he was extremely good looking.

His hair was neatly cut but also slightly ruffled. He had scythe shaped eyebrows. His aquiline nose and prominent cheekbones sat above an oaken jaw. His opal round shaped eyes held a pair of scintillating loam gray eyes.

These were enough to make any woman attracted to him and Adriel Alvarez knew this. He used it to his advantage as well. Adriel Alvarez wasn't just popular for being the successful Ceo and future sole owner of A Globals, he also had a reputation for being a playboy. He changed girlfriends as often as he changed his cars. And he only dated the best and most elite, supermodels, A list actresses and the likes.

Despite his frivolous lifestyle, Adriel had a code which he abided by. 'No mixing pleasure with work', which meant he would date different kinds of women but never the women he works with. Before Lola had taken the job, Adriel had gone through a lot of personal secretaries because they all approached him with the motive of getting together with him or sleeping with him. Lola was the only one who didn't seem the least bit interested in him and had never tried to get together with him. Lola had worked as his personal secretary for almost five years and although she didn't like Adriel's frivolous lifestyle, she had gotten used to it and to him that they both made such a good team working together.

"Good morning, Miss Garcia", Adriel answered Lola's greeting with a friendly smile.

"Here's your coffee, sir", Lola said as she dropped the cup of coffee on the table next to him.

"Hm, thank you", Adriel said as he took a sip of the coffee.

"So what's my schedule like today?", Adriel asked her.

"At 10 o'clock you have a conference meeting with the board of directors. After that you have a meeting at 1pm with the supplier for the ongoing project and by 3pm you have a meeting with the investor, Mr. Guitteres", Lola read off his schedule for the day to him dutifully.

"Hm, ok", Adriel acknowledged as he nodded his head.

Lola glanced at her phone and continued,

"Also, at 7pm you have a dinner date with Miss Allison Tarmani", Lola informed him and Adriel froze.

"Dinner with Miss Allison?"he asked, blinking his eyes confused, then suddenly there was a look of realization on his face.

"Shit! That's today?", he asked Lola who only calmly nodded her head.

"But I haven't made any preparations....", Adriel began to panic.

"It's no problem Mr. Alvarez. I already made a reservation for a private table at La Rousseau's for this evening as well as made arrangements for the driver to go pick up Miss Tarmani and take her to the restaurant. Seeing as how you would probably be in the meeting with the investor till late and wouldn't have enough time, I already picked out an outfit for you. If you don't mind the burgundy suit that is", Lola informed him dutifully.

Adriel paused for a while as he stared at her silently.

"Did you get the stripes or the patterned tie?", he asked softly.

"The patterned one of course", Lola answered and Adriel broke into a smile.

"Thank you Miss Garcia, you are a lifesaver", he said as he gave her his signature roguish smile that would make any woman fall for him. And if Lola was to be completely honest with herself, her heart skipped a beat after seeing that smile.

"It's no trouble Mr. Alvarez, I'm just doing my job", Lola shook her head with a small smile.

"Yes indeed and you are so very efficient at it, which is why I like you", he said and smiled at her once again before resuming with his work.

Lola could feel herself blushing lightly but she quickly snapped out of it and excused herself before leaving the office.

Once she was outside the office, Lola took a deep breath to calm herself. Indeed working with someone as charming as Adriel Alvarez was a dangerous thing.
