CHAPTER 33

RUBY’S POV

Once Dax was gone, Clarissa rushed in to meet me where I sat after my legs were beginning to fail me and she knelt before me with a look of concern etched on her face.

“Are you alright, Ruby? You don’t look too good” she asked softly and I looked at her in silence, unable to utter a word in response.

“Dax said he loves me,” I said in a state of confusion as I had a whirlwind of thoughts collide against each other in my head and she gave a nonchalant shrug.

“He says all the time,'' she replied but I shook my head as I disagreed with her.

“It was very different this time, Clarissa. It felt different and I don't know why I'm thinking too much about it when I don't even feel the same way for him” I told her and she stared at me in silence.

“Are you sure you don't feel the same way, Ruby?” she asked and I wasn't able to give a reply as her words rang bells of alarm in my head and fear filled my heart.
